The word "Thong," etc., is to show the preciousness of the treasury of the Buddha's words. The profoundness is to be understood because it is not made by oneself, not made by others, not made by both, and not arising from no cause. Like this, it does not arise from itself, nor from others, nor from both, nor from no cause. However, due to the condition of ignorance, actions arise, and the rest are similar to this. On the other hand, when wisdom arises, it does not think, "I will create actions," nor do actions think, "We are created by ignorance," and without ignorance, consciousness, etc., will not arise. Therefore, without a prior agent, dependent origination should be understood as profound. Therefore, in order to show that one who is skilled in dependent origination is able to cultivate the path that aims at the four noble truths, right view and right livelihood, etc., are mentioned. Among them, right view is wisdom without outflows. Right livelihood is abandoning hypocrisy and wrong livelihood. Right effort is diligence, which is the four right abandonments. Right mindfulness is not forgetting the object. That is, the four mindfulnesses, aiming at body, feeling, mind, and phenomena. Mindfulness itself is abiding in mindfulness, so it is mindfulness. Those who explain "abiding in mindfulness with mindfulness," according to their doctrine, mindfulness is wisdom. Right concentration is the four dhyanas. Right speech is the four virtuous paths of speech. Right action is the three natures of abandoning the non-virtuous paths of the body. Right thought is harmless thought and renunciation thought, etc., and many virtuous thoughts are right thought. These eight limbs of the noble path are for peace, and are cultivated in order to attain nirvana. This is the aim of this noble path.

In order to explain the Four Noble Truths, it is said, "This birth," and so on. What are the four? They are: the truth of suffering, the truth of the origin, the truth of cessation, and the truth of the path. What is the truth of suffering? It is said, "The suffering of birth." In short, because it is said, "In brief, the five aggregates of grasping are suffering," therefore, whatever birth is the characteristic of the five aggregates of grasping, that is the truth of suffering. It should be understood that that birth is suffering by the suffering of conditioning itself. Considering that very point, it is said, "The five aggregates of grasping are suffering." In the sutras, it is taught by "Birth is suffering," and so on. What is the truth of the origin? It is called craving. That is its great origin. It is said, "Craving for rebirth, accompanied by delight and attachment, taking delight in this and that." For example, because it is said, "Craving for desire, craving for existence, and craving for non-existence." "Its" refers to suffering. From this, suffering arises, so it is the origin, meaning the cause. "Great" indicates that the objects of craving are many. If it were not so, then this would not be great. Among these, "rebirth" refers to considering future existence. "Accompanied by delight and attachment" is a synonym for attachment accompanied by mental pleasure. "Taking delight in this and that" indicates focusing on future existence. "Craving for desire" refers to focusing on the desire realm. "Craving for existence" refers to focusing on the form and formless realms. "Craving for non-existence" refers to focusing on selflessness. What is the truth of cessation? It is said, "This cessation is liberation," that is, whatever cessation of this origin is, that is liberation. It should be understood that that is the truth of cessation, which means completely ceasing that craving and pacifying it.

It is to cut off desire. Therefore, it is shown here that the exhaustion of craving is nirvana, which refers to the nirvana with residue. What is the truth of the path? "Obtaining the eight limbs of the noble path is the truth of the path." It is said that the truth of the path to attain nirvana is the eight limbs of the noble path just mentioned. Like this, the four noble truths, etc., are connected to the attainment of nirvana. Like this, it means that practicing the path in the manner described, one should always be diligent at all times. Why? "In order to see the four noble truths." It is for the sake of seeing the four noble truths. What are the truths of the noble ones? They are the truths of the noble ones. These are because the noble ones, such as the stream-enterers, see them as truths. How can we, the lay people who dwell in the royal palace, see the four noble truths? It says, "Where is Pema Dondrub," etc. It is said like this: Lay people who dwell in the royal palace, such as Dhritarashtra, also transcend the river of afflictions by knowing the four noble truths. Therefore, you should strive! It is the meaning of cherishing. Those who have mastered the Dharma treasury, also, etc., here it shows that the noble path is accomplished through individual effort. They, also, "did not descend from the sky," meaning that they did not come here with knowledge that was completely accomplished from the beginning. "Like crops, they do not come out of Surum," meaning that if they are not in the foundation of a person, they will not grow like crops. Then, how should it be? It is to start from an ordinary person and strive, relying on a virtuous friend, to cross the river of afflictions. Therefore, it is thinking to be afraid! Now, "Pray much without fear," etc., this is to teach in a concise way. Fearless means exhortation. This is the key point of beneficial teaching.
