It is the discipline that precedes. Furthermore, obtaining the unpolluted by generating the path with the eighth, etc., is obtained by the nature of Dharma. Alternatively, there are two types called entering and returning. The actions of body and speech that are permitted by the Tathagata are the discipline of entering. Not doing what is forbidden is the discipline of returning. Alternatively, there are the discipline of abandoning and the discipline of not abandoning. Among them, not engaging in the misdeeds of body and speech is the discipline of abandoning. Following the virtuous conduct of body and speech is the discipline of not abandoning. Furthermore, there are two types distinguished by purity and impurity. Craving, wrong views, pride, non-veridical conceptualization, non-mixture, and complete fulfillment are the discipline of purity. The opposite of that is impurity. There are two types of purity, There are two types: that which is purified without transgression is the discipline of purity without falling. That which is purified by correcting after falling is the discipline of purity of rising up. Furthermore, there are two types: becoming supreme through non-falling and becoming supreme through purity. Those who have entered the stream, etc., do not intentionally transgress, so that is the discipline of non-falling becoming supreme. That which belongs to the Arhat, the Buddha, and the perfectly complete Buddha is the discipline of purity. Alternatively, based on the learner, the non-learner, and the ordinary person, there are three types of discipline: the learner, the non-learner, and neither the learner nor the non-learner. Alternatively, from the perspective of the mind, there are three types based on virtue, non-virtue, and indeterminacy itself: unequally matured and not matured. Unequally transformed is based on harming others. Equally transformed is based on experiencing suffering, faculties, and objects. What is based on the meaning of non-transformation and what is without regret. Furthermore, there are three types: inferior, intermediate, and superior. Being afflicted by intense afflictions and being ashamed of not knowing the rituals

Decline is inferior. Having thin afflictions and being content and possessing few desires is intermediate. The pure discipline that is clear without afflictions and distinguished by contentment and few desires is supreme. Furthermore, there are three types of mastery. A person who makes the world the main thing is one who has shame, because they abandon evil by making the world the main thing. This is discipline based on making the world the main thing. Respect for the Dharma is abandoning evil by making the Dharma the main thing, and this is discipline based on making the Dharma the main thing. Making oneself the main thing is because one is ashamed of oneself and protects oneself and abandons evil, and this is discipline based on making oneself the main thing. Furthermore, there are three types: worldly, beyond worldly, and even beyond the beyond worldly. For ordinary individuals, it is worldly. For those who abide in the noble path and its fruits, it is beyond worldly. For the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, it is even beyond the beyond worldly. Furthermore, discipline has four types: abiding in craving, abiding in views, abiding in pride, and not abiding. Among these, abiding in craving is for the sake of existence and enjoyment. Abiding in views is destroyed by holding discipline and asceticism as supreme. Relying on pride is destroyed by praising oneself and disparaging others. Not abiding is being part of a group that is liberated from the faults of abiding and is without outflows. Furthermore, discipline has four types: decline, abiding, distinction, and the two aspects of definitive discernment. Not abandoning unfavorable factors, not properly relying on those who possess discipline, associating with those who are immoral, opening opportunities for bad thoughts, knowingly transgressing, and concealing transgressions will lead to becoming someone destined to decline from discipline. Being mindful of discipline, cherishing learning, and diligently striving in shamatha and vipashyana will lead to becoming someone destined to abide in discipline. Being mindful of the activities of discipline and samadhi, and striving more in the stages of vipashyana, such discipline is distinguished.
