Born simultaneously with the earth, without cause, there is no cause in meaning. If in designation and truth, birth is also not clearly known. Because this exists, this arises, like the existence of long, hence short. Because this is born, this is born, like the arising of a lamp, hence light. If there is long, then short is self-made, not from its own nature. Because the arising of a lamp does not exist, yet it appears as if there is no arising. Thus seeing the arising of cause and effect, in this world, observe as it is. Having promised to arise from elaboration, then do not promise it to be non-existent. Cessation does not arise from elaboration, but becomes the true suchness. Promising existence does not change, therefore liberation is not dependent on the two. The form seen from afar is clearly seen by those nearby. If a mirage were truly water, why would those nearby not see it? Just as those far away can truly see this world. Likewise, those near it do not see the formless mirage. Just as a mirage resembles water, but is not the nature of water. Likewise, the aggregates resemble self, but are not the nature of self. In a mirage, the thought arises that this is water, and that thought has passed away. If one holds that water does not truly exist, such clinging is foolish. Likewise, like a mirage, holding the world as existent or non-existent. Such clinging is ignorance, and with ignorance, one cannot be liberated. One who clings to non-existence goes to bad destinies, and one who clings to existence goes to good destinies. In order to fully know the truth, one is liberated by not relying on the two extremes. By fully knowing the truth, one does not desire existence or non-existence. Therefore, if one becomes non-existent, why does one not become existent? If one has refuted existence, then in reality, one has established its non-existence. Likewise, if one has refuted non-existence, why does one not establish its existence? If there are those who do not cling to the emptiness of true meaning, nor are attached to it. Because the mind is the support of enlightenment, if there is no consciousness, how can they be said to be non-existent? Those who say that a person is the aggregates, the Samkhya school, the owl-like ones, and the naked ascetics. If they speak of existence, non-existence, and the past, ask them the true meaning. Therefore, the teachings of the Buddhas, this speaks of the profound treasury of Dharma, which transcends existence, non-existence, and death. Know that this is the Dharma treasury, after destruction, there is nowhere to go.

There is neither coming nor staying, not even for a moment. Thus, what is the purpose of the world for those who have passed through the three times? Because both are truly without going, coming, or staying, Therefore, the world is in peace. What is the difference in meaning? Since there is no staying, birth and cessation are not truly real. Where then are birth, staying, and cessation in meaning? If it is constantly changing, how can it not be a momentary thing? If there is no change, how can it change into something else in meaning? If it changes momentarily by being exhausted in one part or in all, since the non-difference itself is not observed, both of those are not reasonable. If it is momentary, since there is no wholeness, how can one see some oldness? How can a moment have an end? Likewise, the beginning and the middle should also be examined. Thus, since a moment possesses the nature of three, the world does not stay for a moment. The beginning, the middle, and the end, should also be thought of as moments. The beginning, the middle, and the end, are also not made of their own nature. Because of the different parts, it is not one. There is nothing that is without parts. Without one, there are also no many. Since there is no existence, there is also no non-existence. If existence becomes non-existence by destruction or by an opponent, since existence is not a possibility, how can it be destroyed or opposed? Therefore, because of peace, the world does not diminish in meaning. If asked whether the world has an end, the Victorious One does not speak. Thus, these profound teachings, are not spoken to beings who are not vessels. Therefore, the wise, know the all-knowing one as the all-knowing. Thus, the definitely good Dharma, profound and without grasping at all, without staying, thus the Fully Awakened One, the one who sees all, has spoken. Frightened by this Dharma without staying, beings are manifestly delighted in staying, not having transcended existence and non-existence, the unwise will decline. Those who fear the non-fearful place of staying, cause others to decline as well as themselves. Kings, those who decline, how not to decline, act thus. King, in order for you not to decline, the way of the world's peace is done. Not relying on two, truly and as it is, it is spoken by the power of the scriptures. Transcending the actions of sin and merit, possessing the meaning of revealing the profound, the Tirthikas.
