I prostrate. Turning away from sins, Completely holding all merits. May all rejoice in the merits of all sentient beings. I bow with folded hands in reverence, For the sake of turning the wheel of Dharma, For the sake of staying in the world until the end, I pray to all the fully enlightened Buddhas. With the merits done in this way, Whatever I have done or not done, May all sentient beings, Possess the unsurpassed Bodhicitta. May all sentient beings be stainless and free, Complete, free from all unfavorable conditions, With independent conduct, And possess a good life. May all sentient beings, Possess a precious jewel in their hands, All resources are limitless, May the cycle of existence never end. May all women always, Transform into excellent men. May all sentient beings possess intelligence, And possess feet. May all sentient beings possess beauty, Good form, great splendor, Pleasing to see, free from illness, Powerful and possess long life. May all be skilled in means, Be liberated from all suffering, Devoted to the Three Jewels, May they possess great wealth of Buddha Dharma. Love, compassion, joy, Equanimity in afflictions, Giving, morality, patience, diligence, Adorned with meditation and wisdom, All accumulations are complete, Clear marks and signs, The ten inconceivable grounds, May they traverse without interruption. May I also possess those qualities, And may all others also possess adornments, Liberated from all faults, Supreme love for all sentient beings, The hope in the minds of all sentient beings, May all virtuous deeds be accomplished, Always for all sentient beings, May I eliminate suffering. Whoever in all the worlds, Whoever is afraid, Even by hearing my name, May they be free from extreme fear. By seeing and remembering me, By merely hearing the name of beings, May they obtain the supreme, unconfused purity, And the certainty of perfect enlightenment, Following in all lifetimes, May they obtain the five clairvoyances. May all sentient beings always, Constantly benefit and be happy. Whoever in all the worlds, Commits sins

May those who desire, may all of them be without harm, may they always and instantly be warded off. Earth and water and fire and wind, like medicine and the trees of monasteries, may all the Buddhas always freely and without hindrance make use of them. Cherish sentient beings like life, cherish them even more than yourself. May their sins ripen upon me, and may all my virtues ripen upon them. As long as even one sentient being has not been liberated, until that time, therefore, even if I attain unsurpassed enlightenment, may I remain there. Whatever merit is spoken in this way, if it were to have form, it would not fit in a world system the size of the sands of the Ganges. This was spoken by the Blessed One, and the reasoning is also evident in this, because the realm of sentient beings is immeasurable, so is the desire to benefit them. Thus, whatever Dharma talk I have given you in brief, cherish it as you always cherish your own body. Whoever cherishes this Dharma, in reality cherishes their own body. If cherishing requires benefiting, then it becomes the practice of Dharma. Therefore, rely on the Dharma as yourself, strive like the Dharma, have wisdom like striving, and rely on the wise like wisdom. Pure, loving, and wise, one who comes and speaks of benefit and joy, if someone evilly suspects me, they will lose even their own benefit. Pure, loving, and wise, one who bravely speaks of benefit and joy, may I become a protector and helper, O lord of men, make a vow. Know the qualities of those virtuous friends in brief. Content, compassionate, possessing discipline, having the wisdom to dispel afflictions. If they attend to you, know them and respect them. With this perfect method, the supreme attainment of accomplishment will be obtained. Truthful, gentle-speaking to sentient beings, difficult to approach in a comfortable manner, virtuous, not desiring to kill in particular, speak well and independently. Well-tamed, abandoning negligence, majestic, possessing dignity and peaceful mind, without agitation and not lengthy, without wavering and determined. Determined like the full moon, radiant like the autumn moon, profound like the ocean, and extremely stable like Mount Meru. Away from all faults.

The realm of liberation, adorned with all virtues, may you be the sustenance of all sentient beings, and may you become omniscient. This Dharma is not taught only to the king, nor is it taught only for the sake of the teachings, but it is taught with the desire to benefit other sentient beings as well. May I and others truly attain complete and perfect enlightenment. Speaking to the king, one should also think like holding an umbrella. With discipline, great respect for beings, the supreme teacher, patience, and likewise without jealousy, having abandoned greed and unrealistic expectations, for the benefit of others, doing good to the rich and the poor, accepting good and bad, abandoning the bad, and always striving for meaningful Dharma for the sake of Bodhi. The fifth chapter, the chapter on the conduct of Bodhisattvas, from the Ratnavali, is completed. The Advice to the King, called Ratnavali, composed by the great scholar Arya Nagarjuna, is completed. The Indian Abbot Jñana Garbha and the Tibetan translator, the monk Klu'i Gyaltsen, translated, revised, and finalized it. Later, the Indian Abbot Kanakavarma and the Tibetan translator Patsab Nyima Drak, having consulted three Indian Sanskrit versions, thoroughly revised it. The Precious Garland of Advice to the King, by Nagarjuna.
