Do not consecrate things that are used just because they are made. The saying 'consecrate iron and copper' means that the alms bowl made of these two materials should be consecrated. What are the precious things mentioned above as possessions? Jewels, pearls, vaiḍūrya (वायिडूर्य, vaiḍūrya, lapis lazuli), shells, coral, gold, silver, aśmagarbha (अश्मगर्भ, aśmagarbha, agate), musāragalva (मुसारगल्व, musāragalva, a type of gem), red gems, and dextrorotatory conch shells are all considered precious. 'Incomplete is diminished' means that touching things that have not been polished, etc., and are not guarded will reduce the offense. To show that the precepts that follow are similar to this, it is said 'the following is also,' meaning that selling unmarked items without guarding them will also reduce the offense. To explain what is meant by not guarding, it refers to things that are broken, bubbly, upturned, never used before, unmarked, hidden, and counterfeit. If they are like these, they are not guarded. 'Broken' means that they are broken even if they are cut or tied. 'Bubbly' means that they are bulging and visible. 'Upturned' means that they are upturned to a certain extent from some places. 'Never used before' means that no one has ever used them before and does not know them. 'Unmarked' means that they are unmarked. 'Hidden' means that they are hidden and the marks are not visible. 'Counterfeit' means that they are made of stones and grass to look like jewels or ornaments. Gold and silver should be abandoned. Relying on marks to make gains, if you are greedy for profit, you will fall, etc., meaning that if you are greedy for profit and make gains, you will fall. If it is for yourself, then it is like that, but if it is for others, it will reduce the offense. 'If the other person is not a family member or relative, it is fundamental' means that if the object of the gain is neither a family member nor a relative, then initially it will become a root offense. So, under what circumstances will the gain become a root offense? 'If the gain has been given' means that preparing to make a gain is a minor offense, but when the gain is given, it becomes a root offense. Therefore, what should be abandoned is that whatever gain is given, that much should be abandoned. To show that the following precepts should also be combined with this nature, it is said 'the following is also,' meaning that everything said from 'greedy for profit' to 'gain given' should also be combined with the links of buying and selling.

What hoarding constitutes a fault? "Hoarding money or treasures constitutes a fault," meaning that hoarding, whether it is money or any treasures such as gold and silver, constitutes a fault. "The action is one," meaning that even if multiple hoarding actions are performed for reasons such as padding a cushion, they should be regarded as one action. "For the sake of the Three Jewels," meaning that hoarding is done for the sake of offering to the Three Jewels. Then, who should be allowed to do it? "If there is a steward or a layperson, let them do it," meaning that if these people exist, let them do the hoarding. How should the hoarding be done? "Take double security," etc., meaning that in order not to waste the property of the Three Jewels, double security should be taken. "Witnesses, year, month, day, the abbot of the Sangha, the caretaker of the monastery, solitary individuals, property, profits, etc., should be written on paper," meaning that after writing according to these terms, it should be properly kept. "Those who know the details should explain the reasons to others in detail," meaning that those who know the details of the hoarding should explain the reasons to other monks in detail. Hoarding without marking should be avoided. The above and below should also be the same. Although the various aspects of buying and selling have been explained in detail, now only the difference of what property is used for buying and selling is explained. "Others," etc., meaning that dry goods should not be used, but other items such as grains should be used for buying and selling, otherwise it will constitute a fault. "If the Sangha buys with the value of grain to offer to the Sangha, it is the affair of the Sangha," meaning that in order to offer alms to the Sangha, if the Sangha itself buys with the value of the remaining grain, it should be given. "If the value there is exhausted," meaning that if it is bought in that place to offer to the Sangha, then the owner of that Sangha should use up all the value and then give it. "Even if it is exhausted, buy it," meaning that even if the remaining grain of the Sangha is exhausted, it should be bought. "New ones too," meaning that new ones should also be bought. Then, when? "If there are no insects in it, sell the old ones," meaning that if there is no old grain with insects, sell it and buy gold. "Do not estimate the price," meaning that the price of the property should not be estimated, such as "How much is this property worth," etc. The behavior of householders
