Even if one begs from different or together non-relative bhikkhunis and laypeople, and obtains many things such as large summer cloths, there is only one downfall. This shows the abandonment of begging for alms separately. What actions lead to the abandonment of accusation? If one inquires about unsuitable cloth goods that have been sent, and shows the initial witness, and then the messenger informs and states the reason, this is called 'face-to-face persuasion.' That is, if a donor sends unsuitable cloth goods such as gold and silver, the messenger with life says to the bhikkhu, 'This cloth good has not been inspected and cannot be accepted.' Then he says, 'Then who is the venerable's suitable witness?' When asked, he points out a name. Then the messenger also says to that person, 'Give this cloth good, such a cloth, to the bhikkhu named so-and-so.' After informing, he goes back to the bhikkhu and says, 'I have informed the witness indicated by the venerable, please go to that venerable.' If he says this, it is to persuade that face-to-face witness. The reason for persuasion is, 'I need suitable cloth.' If after persuading, that person does not hear or understand, then it is shown that persuasion does not diminish. That is, 'If one cannot understand, it is not persuasion,' that is, because one is drunk, or has fallen asleep, or is afflicted by illness, or because of busyness, etc., one does not understand the persuasion, then it is not included in the number of persuasions. Even if one persuades six times at once, it is counted as only one persuasion, but it must be done separately. If it is not completed, then it can be done a second time, that is, if it is not completed once, then it can be done a second time. It can also be done a third time, that is, if it is not completed twice, then it can be done up to three times. Then, 'sit beside in between three times,' that is, without speaking, sit beside, do it three times. In the 'Separation,' it says, 'Without speaking, sit beside, do it four or five or six times,' but why does it say 'in between three times' here? Because 'separate statement' means that even if one persuades, if one does not give, then it is just empty words. Therefore, because three persuasions have been mentioned above, it is said here to sit beside three times.

Saying "Um" means just that. If (the other party) does not agree, then report to the benefactor, meaning that even if urged in this way, (the other party) still does not give, then tell the benefactor's steward: 'I have reported, like this, do not waste your wealth!' Report again like this. After doing that, (the other party) gives, (or) (the other party) says: 'Given, already given.' Even if said like that, if (someone) promises: 'I will protect the benefactor's intention.' then it should be requested, meaning that after giving up hope like that, he comes with the clothes, (if) (I say) 'I have already given, and have already reported to the benefactor, I don't want it.' Even if said like that, (the other party) says: 'I will protect the benefactor's intention, it is not okay not to accept.' Arguing like this, then take it. How can one avoid blame? That is, exceeding the number of urging and persuading, or not agreeing, meaning exceeding the number of urging and persuading six times, or not agreeing 'I will protect the benefactor's intention,' if taken, one can avoid blame. Among them, exceeding the number of urging and persuading six times, or not being able to reverse the order, urging a sick person, there is no fault. After doing what should be done before like that, showing that it will become a fault, that is, if requesting or taking clothes, initially it will become a fault. How will the benefactor, messenger, and steward become at fault? That is, all three are people and householders, meaning that these three are people, and also householders, then it will become a fault, if not like that, it will reduce the fault. If not said, then it is a minor offense, meaning that the messenger tells the steward like this: 'Please go and welcome that noble one.' (If) not saying 'Please accept' and urging, it will become a minor offense. If not bundled, it is also the same, meaning that the messenger comes with bad clothes and goods, if not bundled well, it will become a minor offense. When bringing it after despair, even if bundled, it is the same.
