I am merely repeating for the sake of learning. Obtaining vows depends entirely on your own mind. After having him make such a commitment to become a layperson and a novice monk, what should be done next? Next, the precepts are declared in the manner of a commitment. That is to say, after committing to be a layperson and a novice monk, just as the noble Arhats refrain from killing for the rest of their lives, I, named so-and-so, abstain from killing for the rest of my life, and turn away from killing. From "turning away from killing" to "turning away from drinking liquor that causes intoxication, a place of drunkenness," the five precepts of a layperson should not be done, committing in a negative way, and if one does not turn away, one should say "does not turn away." From "turning away from killing" to "turning away from possessing gold and silver," the ten precepts of a novice monk should be recited as before. Who should make one a layperson? What should be done after becoming a layperson? After you yourself have completed the ceremony of a layperson, entrust it to the monk who asks the Sangha. That is to say, the Khenpo of the layperson's vow should do it himself. Then, to the monk who requests the Sangha, if he requests this person to be ordained, entrust or entrust the matter to him, and have him request the Sangha. What should the requesting monk do? Ask if it is completely pure, and if it is pure, then request. That is to say, the requesting monk again says to the Khenpo, is there any obstacle? If he says no, completely no, then, venerable Sangha, please listen. Wanting to be ordained, named so-and-so, wanting white clothes, etc., recite the words of the mantra and request the Sangha. What kind of Sangha should one request? Request the Sangha that is all gathered together, or abiding in various places. That is to say, the monk should request all the Sangha that is completely gathered together, abiding, or abiding in various places, in one area. Where the request is made, the ritual to be performed is indicated from there. That is to say, if it is completely pure, let everyone say it. That is to say, if this person has no obstructing Dharmas, then the entire Sangha should answer. After the request is completed,

What should someone who wishes to renounce do? It is to request the Khenpo. After informing the Sangha, the one who wishes to renounce should say, "Venerable one, please listen. I, whose name is..., request the Venerable one to be my Khenpo." Like this, with similar words, request the Khenpo three times. The Khenpo shaves the hair and beard of the one who wishes to renounce, except for the topknot. Because of sores, the topknot is retained, and then the Khenpo shaves the hair and beard. If the barber or someone else shaves, that is also fine. If the topknot is retained, when should it be shaved? One should ask, "Shall I shave the topknot?" If it is possible, one should also pay attention to that. For the one who wishes to renounce, do not shave it all off, because the topknot is retained, so it is not yet true renunciation. One should say, "Are you sure you want to renounce?" If there is no doubt, then the topknot should also be shaved. The one who wishes to renounce, having shaved the hair and beard in this way, should then bathe. Because places have differences in cold and heat, the water should also be adjusted to be cold or hot as appropriate, and used for bathing. After bathing, the Khenpo should give the Dharma robes, that is, the dyed robes. The Khenpo should give him the clothes dyed with colors suitable for a renunciate. The one who wishes to renounce should prostrate at the feet of the Khenpo and then receive them. After that, the Khenpo bestows the robes. When the Khenpo bestows the robes on the one who wishes to renounce, he should examine the gender. In order to remove the faults of being a eunuch, hermaphrodite, bisexual, or asexual. So-called non-examination does not mean deliberately exposing oneself to observe, but in any case, one should not offend. The examination is not at the moment of bestowing the robes, but after the Khenpo has given permission before, from that time on, it can be done at any time. The Khenpo or a monk he trusts can examine. If it is determined that there are no faults such as being a eunuch, then at the time of taking refuge, how should one renounce? The one who wishes to renounce should say, "Khenpo, please listen. I, whose name is..., from taking refuge in the Buddha, the best of the two-legged beings, until taking refuge in the best of the Sangha." Recite these words. From "Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha" to "Abandoning the signs of a householder, taking the signs of a renunciate" is the lineage of mantra words.
