Because it is explained as "combination," it starts from "the entire Sangha gathers and performs the ritual in this way," and ends with "complete realization is the previous ritual." Those that are said, either in the manner of taking turns, or saying that the previous ritual is the manner of definitely taking on. Like this, each sutra is combined in the same way, and it should be combined from the beginning to the end. In this way, the Blessed One initially taught that the complete cessation of suffering without remainder is attained through the aggregate of morality. Now, the object of ordination is explained. Why is the object of ordination explained first? Because all the words of the precepts are based on ordination, and the object of ordination is mentioned first in the root Vinaya as well, so here too, the object of ordination is mentioned first. There are two kinds of ordination, the previous ritual and the later ritual. Therefore, the Blessed One taught it earlier, and because it is easy to explain, it is called the "previous ritual." "The entire Sangha gathers" means that it is not like a small Sangha gathering in one place, but that all the Sangha within one boundary gathers completely. "Performed in this way" means that shaving the hair and beard and wearing the three Dharma robes is done as the attire of these disciples of the Thus-Gone One. Bowing, joining palms, and squatting in front of the elders means that there are two kinds, elders and younger ones, and the one who wants to be ordained sits in front of the elders as if stating it solemnly. Among them, "bowing" means bowing by touching the five limbs to the ground at the beginning. "Joining palms" means doing it as a subsequent action. "Squatting" means not standing or sitting on a cushion, but bending the body. "Three requests" means that the one who wants to be ordained and receive full ordination should say, "Listen, venerable Sangha, I, named so-and-so, want to be ordained and receive full ordination in the Dharma and Vinaya well-spoken by the Blessed One, and become a Bhikshu, hoping that the Sangha will accept, love, and have compassion for me."

For the sake of compassion, please allow ordination and full ordination, and thus request it three times. The so-called "request and four karmas" refers to the person who wants to be ordained and receive full ordination, making the request three times as mentioned above. If ordination and full ordination are granted, the Sangha will make one request and three announcements, indicating that through the request and four karmas, this person can be ordained and receive full ordination. Among them, what the Sangha needs to understand is the request. The difference between believing and not believing lies in the announcement. The so-called "immediately obtaining ordination and full ordination," the "immediately" refers to the mantra for receiving full ordination, such as "Listen, virtuous Sangha! So-and-so, having taken ordination and full ordination in the well-spoken Vinaya, desires the nature of a Bhikshu," starting from there, to "So-and-so has been ordained and received full ordination by the Sangha," as mentioned in between, which shows that in the past, people's ordination and full ordination were immediately accomplished. The so-called "previous ritual" refers to the ritual in which the Bhikshu Sangha's ordination and full ordination were immediately accomplished when the Tathagata first manifested enlightenment, which is like this. If someone criticizes and says, since the previous ritual can also accomplish ordination and full ordination, then why is the later ritual needed? If the later ritual can also accomplish ordination and full ordination, then why is the previous ritual needed? The answer to this is that due to the difference in the beings to be tamed, there are two different types of rituals, earlier and later. When the Tathagata first manifested enlightenment, the minds of beings were very pure, not relying on the order of taming and rituals, nor relying on the preceptor and the teacher, but simply following the Buddha's teachings, and accumulating a lot of merit, so there was no trouble of disease. Even if they were troubled by disease, they could easily obtain medicine and treatment for the disease, so there was a ritual like the previous one. The minds of later beings are not like
