Things that are allowed to be done, such as picking vegetables, picking flowers and fruits, and offering toothpicks, are also done by novices. This means that these things in the residence cannot be done by monks. Novices should especially do these things. These things in the residence are not just daily tasks, but also the Sangha's tasks should be done by novices. Knock on the door and know that someone is inside. This means that if you go to another monk's residence, whoever it is, you should do this. Slowly, this means that the sound of knocking should not be too loud. Do not take too long, this means that the time of knocking should not be too long. Do not push hard, this means that you should not push hard when opening the door. Do not drag the threshold, enter and exit slowly and carefully. This means that you should pay attention to these things when entering and leaving the room. Cherish this place, this means to cherish the residence. Treasure it, this means that the resident should not abandon the residence.
