"Do not intervene in disputes" means do not intervene when someone threatens or oppresses you, saying you have something to say. "Do not refuse recitations, fasts, and rituals" means you cannot refuse these mentioned matters. "Do not mingle with these people" means do not mingle with those who do not belong to the Sangha. "Abandon with punishment as the target" and "other faults" mean that for the sake of the precepts you have taken, do not commit any faults that would be punished, and also avoid faults arising from other precepts. "Do not entrust the practice of Brahmacharya to others" means you cannot entrust the practice of Brahmacharya to others. "Remember to purify through asceticism" means to think that by doing as those ascetics do, you can alleviate and eliminate your faults. So, how should one practice asceticism? After waking up in the morning, open the door, light the lamp, take the vessels, clean the temple, smear the ground with fresh mud, etc. "Clean the places for urination and defecation," "prepare water outdoors, on the ground, and when needed," "clean the toilet," "lay out the seat," "know the time, prepare the seat and vessels," "if possible, speak of the Buddha's virtues," "if not, encourage others to speak," "strike the ghanta after the meal," "fan the monks when it is hot," these are the duties of all fully ordained monks. "Cover with an umbrella, lay out the seat in a secluded place," "discard the remnants under the bowl," these are the ascetic practices aimed at punishment. Furthermore, "be aware and sweep the stupa," "smear the ground with fresh mud," "lay out the seats at the assembly, etc., and other matters related to merit," "if possible, recite the number of precepts," "if not, encourage other monks to recite," these are the ascetic practices aimed at punishment. In the evening, also clean the exterior of the temple, from laying out the seats to speaking of the Buddha's virtues, etc., do as these things are done.
