Gross offenses should be confessed to five or more monks. The so-called "majority without remainder," meaning "without interruption," refers to committing grave fundamental offenses that cannot be tolerated, such as engaging in sexual misconduct; or like stealing monastic property with one hand, etc. These offenses cannot be interrupted and should be confessed to six or more monks. As for "light offenses," such as stealing property worth only a blade of grass, this minor gross offense should be confessed to four or more monks. The distinction between light and heavy should be made according to the weight and magnitude of the object and intention. The saying, "Even if one dies accidentally while striving to confess, it is as if completed," means that even if one encounters an accident such as death while beginning the process of expiation, because there is a mind of repentance, it is shown as if it has been completed. For example, a monk prepares to undergo expiation but is killed by a wild animal on the way. If it is spoken out, the sin is purified; if asked, "What about this?" the answer is "Like a minor offense," meaning that when it is spoken out, all sins are purified, and if remembered, it is like a minor offense, so one should confess unwanted actions to one person. The saying, "Declare the offense together with its name and category," means that when confessing, one should state the name of the offense and the category to which the offense belongs. The remaining offense of the Sangha refers to "concealed for so long" or "not concealed," etc. When confessing the remaining offense of the Sangha, whether concealed or not, one should state how long it was concealed and then confess. The saying, "Purified by being removed from it," means that the remaining offense of the Sangha is purified by being removed from it. The saying, "Obtain six nights of delight from the Sangha and then enjoy it," means that only after obtaining six nights of delight from the Sangha and enjoying it can one be expelled as before. For a Bhikshuni, it is half a month. The saying, "Even if it violates the heavy precepts, it should be enjoyed," means that a Bhikshuni must undergo a half-month delight ceremony, and even if it violates the heavy precepts, it must be enjoyed. The saying, "If there is no concealed offense, it can be given," means that delight can only be given if there is no concealed offense. If asked, "How to conceal?" the answer is, "Because of the interruption, it will not happen."

Indeed. If an act deserving punishment is committed, then concealing the offense will not occur. If asked how long that punishment should last, it is said that the monastic affair should last that long, meaning that for as long as it was concealed, the punishment should also last that long. If, while doing these two things, the remaining affairs of the Sangha are not completed, then the punishments that have been done and accepted will disappear. Therefore, one must start anew, meaning that in the absence of punishment and satisfaction, if subsequent remaining affairs similar to this occur, then the punishments that were previously accepted and done will all disappear, so one must start anew and continue. "Starting is also like doing," which means that previous punishments and fundamental punishments, as well as repeated punishments, in the process of starting and doing, if subsequent offenses similar to this occur, then it only indicates that they are the same as the previous offenses. Therefore, for an offense that has not occurred, it should be raised separately and also done first, meaning that if the ritual is incomplete and the punishment has not occurred, and subsequent offenses similar to this occur, then apart from repeating from the root, for both that offense and the subsequent offense, one should do it before doing anything else. "During that time, one should also correct," which means that in the process of committing the previous offense, that offense that later became an offense, one should not abandon the root, but correct it with remedial methods. Therefore, for that purpose, one should also rely on that, meaning that when accepting the fundamental punishment, one should say the names of the subsequent offense and both of them to accept it. "Relying on exceeding the prescribed time," which means that if the previously concealed time is longer than the prescribed time, then one should not add the length of the previous time to the length of the later time, but rather say the names of both offenses and place the later offense on the longer length of time. "These two are done through affairs," which means that both punishment and satisfaction should be done through affairs. "What has now occurred is also," which means that what has arisen from the remaining affairs should also be removed through affairs. "Here, scold," and "Between the supplication and the request until the first," which means that what has now occurred, from the completion of the supplication until the first commencement of affairs, one should scold and punish. "After spreading it on the grass mat," which means that one should spread it on the grass mat and do it as above. "Also praise," and "After stating the completion," which means that after stating the completion of the affairs to the Sangha, one should praise him.
