Not abandoning joy and faith transforming and becoming views, not following abandonment, collecting broken things, telling of fallen places, adding contempt, eating leftover food and walking without speaking. What is the part of displeasure? Abandoning closeness to the training and disrespectful behavior. What is the part of the downfall? Eating stored things, that is, things cooked inside, ghee that has expired inside, and things cooked by monks. Speaking of the nature of the part, going for the sake of practicing impure conduct, this is a misdeed. Praising one's own behavior, this is a sanghavasesa. Speaking of the fallen place, this is another offense. Approaching a woman for one's own sake, this is a coarse offense belonging to the defeat. Embracing, kissing, sleeping, and engaging in sexual activity outside the sexual organ, what are these? It is the nature of physical contact, belonging to another offense. Touching inside the sexual organ, if the wound has not healed, this is a defeat. If it has healed, before striving together with another, it is a coarse offense. If it has occurred, it is a sanghavasesa. What is not said here is not said at all, but it is to avoid excessive situations. If ejaculation and so on belong to the coarse offenses belonging to impure conduct, etc., if the fault is transferred to other aspects, then this part belongs here. This sutra specifically points out the situation where other faults such as coarse offenses are transferred to other aspects. Therefore, ejaculation and so on are parts of impure conduct and so on, but these parts cannot be attributed to other parts, because this would lead to endless faults. Therefore, the part of ejaculation and so on is themselves, not impure conduct. What part of them is it? It is ejaculation and so on themselves, not other offenses such as coarse offenses. For all ejaculations, except for the final result, it is a sanghavasesa. That is to say, for all ejaculations, except for the final result, that is, the defeat, it is a sanghavasesa.

It is only a sthūlātyaya. In some sutras and other texts such as the Vinayavastu, regarding the description of emitting semen, some are mentioned, and some are not mentioned, this may be because, for example, engaging in sexual intercourse with a woman who is unbearable to use, and engaging in sexual intercourse in the mouth of a decapitated person, etc., this will constitute a sthūlātyaya. If semen is emitted due to desire, but it is not a pārājika, then all of these should be understood as a saṃghāvaśeṣa of emitting semen. This sutra is an explanation of what was previously said, "a certain part belongs there." Here, some people think that which actions do not constitute a saṃghāvaśeṣa, thinking that it is another action, in order to correct this idea, some actions, although they have become another fundamental, but have not been classified as other offenses, such as saṃghāvaśeṣa, etc., then for these actions, a durnāma offense is also established, such as getting up from a seat and wearing a lower garment, etc. Some actions are established as other fundamental offenses, then they will also become the same offense, such as reverence and praise, etc. Therefore, touching a woman with the intention of engaging in impure conduct is a saṃghāvaśeṣa of touching, not a sthūlātyaya of a fundamental offense. If one thinks of engaging in impure conduct or embracing, etc., for example, in a situation where there is refuge, residing or experiencing standing together with a single woman, this is only a patayantika, not an act of misconduct of engaging in impure conduct and saṃghāvaśeṣa. Then, if one starts to engage in impure conduct, and at the time of emitting semen, is in the act of saṃghāvaśeṣa, then what kind of offense should one know this action to be? The previous action is the action that leads to a fundamental offense, and from the moment he has the thought of emitting semen, it is the action of saṃghāvaśeṣa. Therefore, he will commit two sthūlātyayas, namely the sthūlātyaya that leads to a fundamental offense and the sthūlātyaya that leads to a saṃghāvaśeṣa. Here, the scripture says, with what kind of woman does engaging in impure conduct lead to downfall? It is one whose limbs can all be accepted, and...

Now, the same should be said for the genitals of a walker. If it is not acceptable, engaging in sexual intercourse with it, if semen is discharged, it becomes a saṃghāvaśeṣa. If semen is not discharged, it becomes a sthūlātyaya, and so on, it is said. Other treatises also say, by how much is the vagina said to be damaged? Because if the edge of that wound's opening is damaged, that is, if it is damaged, it becomes a sthūlātyaya. If semen is discharged, it is said to become a saṃghāvaśeṣa. The result of many actions cannot be established as a downfall, which refers to: being separated by actions and results, many things that achieve different results, combining their results into one, cannot be established as the essential downfall. Because their results are different. For example, stealing little by little, totaling up to the amount of five māṣakas, etc., will not cause one to become defeated. Also, if the foundations of many small houses are combined and exceed the prescribed amount, it will not cause one to become a saṃghāvaśeṣa. Similarly, a piece of cloth that is not of sufficient size, holding it for a prescribed time and then discarding it, and then holding another piece of cloth at another time and discarding it. And again, holding it at another time and discarding it, although the total of those times exceeds the holding time, because the results of those days of holding are different, it will not become a niḥsargika-pāyantika. Similarly, picking up nāpāla fruits on the road, taking a little bit each day, the total distance exceeding one yojana, but because the results of those different actions are combined into one, it will not become a niḥsargika-pāyantika. Also, nights that are not consecutive, but occasionally going to other places, the total exceeding six nights, will not cause one to become a niḥsargika for being separated from six nights. Also, saying one word at a time at different times, the total exceeding five or six words, will not cause one to become a pāyantika for teaching the Dharma exceeding five or six words, and so on. Here, the treatise refers to taking what is not given.
