Sounds like bears, tigers, cats, seas, leopards, and foxes are meant to illustrate the differences in sounds of wild animals, etc. Smells like feces, urine, rams, and their scrotums are meant to illustrate the differences in smells of wild animals, etc. Sensations like rough, soft, and warm touches are meant to illustrate the differences in touches of wild animals, etc. "Declaring existence" means understanding that the state of having such differences of wild animals, etc., is right here. "For pleasant things, it is a fault" means that if one proclaims the cause of approaching pleasant things, it becomes a fault. Here, to illustrate pleasant things with examples, such as gods, nagas, gandharvas, yakshas, kinnaras, mahoragas, those with wealth and form, merchants, and leaders, etc. Like the sound of the lute, like the smell of agarwood, sandalwood, saffron, and tamala leaves, like the touch of silk, large cotton cloths, fine cotton cloths, silk, Dugula cotton, and Kotamba cotton, declaring existence is spoken. These are to illustrate the differences in form, sound, smell, and touch of gods, etc. If one proclaims and understands that gods, etc., with such form, sound, smell, and touch are right here, it becomes a fault, and should be understood that way. Like those with wealth, merchants, and leaders, etc., this is to illustrate the differences in the form of gods, etc. The word "etc." also includes kings and ministers, etc. Like the sound of the lute, etc., this is to illustrate the differences in the sound of gods, etc. The word "etc." also includes the sound of lightning and wind, etc. Like the smell of agarwood, sandalwood, saffron, and tamala leaves, this is to illustrate the differences in the smell of gods, etc. Like the touch of silk, large cotton cloths, fine cotton cloths, silk, Dugula cotton, and Kotamba cotton, this is to illustrate the differences in the touch of gods, etc. "Declaring existence" means understanding that gods, etc., with such differences are right here.

Mentioning Rakshasas and others is only symbolic, and it also includes those who are known as powerful Yakshas. The meaning of "unless it is for the purpose of causing aversion" is: if one does such actions for the purpose of causing aversion, then there is no fault. Therefore, for the purpose of causing aversion, there is no downfall in talking about hell beings, animals, and hungry ghosts, etc. Because unless it is for the purpose of causing aversion, even if talking about hell beings, etc., causes some people to be disgusted, there is no downfall. The cause of downfall for causing aversion has already been explained. What actions would cause a downfall of concealment? Therefore, it is said in the sutra: "If one hides or causes others to hide the bowl, Dharma robes, net, bowl, belt, etc., belonging to this renunciate, as well as the necessities of a monastic life." The renunciate mentioned by the Blessed One refers to those who have the status of Bhikshu, Bhikshuni, Shramanera, Shramanerika, etc. Those who possess the bowl, etc., belonging to the renunciate, which are standard monastic necessities, if they themselves hide or cause others to hide them, they will commit this offense. For items that are not up to standard or unsuitable, a minor offense is committed. The meaning of "unless it is with the intention of benefiting" is: if one hides or causes others to hide with the intention of benefiting, there is no downfall. The downfall of concealment has already been explained. What would cause a downfall of reliance if given? Therefore, it is said in the sutra: "If one gives a robe to a Bhikshu without reclaiming it, and uses it without permission." It means that if a Bhikshu gives a robe to another Bhikshu, giving it permanently without reclaiming it, and then uses it without the permission of the giver, this offense is committed. Relying on one's own thoughts to live will cause this downfall. Relying on the thoughts of others will cause a grave offense of taking what is not given, just as if the image has been definitely given, if used like an offering, it is like a union.

For the sake of covering. Therefore, if one uses what I have given without permission, one commits a downfall. Using utensils other than clothing is a misdeed. Here, the text refers to a monk who temporarily gives a bhikkhu's utensils other than clothing to a bhikkhu. If he uses them without taking them back, what offense is committed? He said, "It is a misdeed." What if one uses it with any intention? Therefore, he said, "If that donor will not be pleased." If I have the thought that the bhikkhu to whom I have given will be pleased by what I use, then there is no offense, because it is used to please him. The statement that "living on what is given is a downfall" has been explained. What must be done to commit the offense of slander? Therefore, wishing to slander, he changes the perception of the monk, saying, "He slanders with a Sanghadisesa." Wishing to slander with a Sanghadisesa offense, he hides the true feeling from the monk, changes his perception, and makes him understand the slander with a false Sanghadisesa, then he will commit this downfall. Is it only to express it clearly? Therefore, he said, "Even a little." Here, the text refers to a monk who temporarily gives instruction. If he slanders with a small Sanghadisesa, what offense is committed? He said, "He commits a downfall." The statement that "the downfall of slander" has been explained. Desiring to speak of the downfall of walking with a woman, what was said earlier, "Walking on the road, the woman is the actor," then is the woman the actor in any other case? Therefore, he said, "Walking on the road out of desire." If one walks on the road at will, one will commit this downfall. But if one walks under the control of another, it is not so. How far does one walk on the road? Therefore, he said, "Every krosha." Every krosha without a conscious person, walking on the road at will with a woman, the woman is the actor. Therefore, for each one, there is a misdeed.
