It is necessary to abide by the norms of discipline, which indicates conduct. Thus, the Sutra section first elucidates that the Blessed One declared the meaning of all aggregates of discipline, which is to attain nirvana without remainder. Now, first, the basis of ordination is to be discussed, because all the foundations for establishing training are said to belong only to the ordained, and not to the householders. The so-called 'seven abandonments' also refer only to their Pratimoksha vows. The Vinaya-vastu also first explains the basis of ordination, so here too it is explained in the same way. There are two kinds of distinctions, namely, ancient rituals and present rituals. For the time being, let us explain the ancient rituals in detail, because they are to be explained first, and because there is less to be said. Compared to the present rituals, it is explained earlier, and it is explained earlier than the permission of the Khenpo and Acharya, therefore it is called the ancient ritual. Because even without these two, there were ordination and full ordination rituals in ancient times, therefore in ancient times, ordination and full ordination were completed simultaneously. The author of the Sutra also correctly understood this meaning, and when all the Sangha gathered, they made such attire, prostrated to the elders, sat squatting with palms joined, and prayed three times, and through the prayer and the four karmas, ordination and full ordination were accomplished simultaneously, like this is what is called the ancient ritual. The word 'all the Sangha' is to prevent the gathering of the Sangha from one side of a mandala. It is explained in this way: however many bhikshus reside within that boundary, all of them come to the place of the karma, therefore it is called all the Sangha. 'When gathered' means at the assembly. 'Made such attire' means that those who wish to ordain and receive full ordination made such attire. Having made such attire means those who wish to ordain and receive full ordination. Attire means the sign of ordination. 'Made such'

It is called: It has been completed, and wanting to renounce and receive full ordination is called the concluding word. When the hair and beard are shaved off, and the three robes of the Dharma are worn, that is called doing it this way. The person who has done it this way, those monks who have become the Sangha, use the phrase "has completed the renunciation and full ordination" to connect with this. The so-called "for the elders", the Sangha has two generations: the young and the old. The generation of the older monks is the elders, and there prostrate It is called the concluding word. The so-called "prostration" is the way of prostrating with the five limbs, which is the concluding word. To whom do you prostrate? Connect with "for the elders". The so-called "joining palms" is the posture of joining palms, and joining palms is already completed, connect this sentence with this. The so-called "sitting squatting", sitting squatting is squatting, not sitting on the mat. All places should be connected with "for the elders". The so-called "requesting" is the request itself. Having a request is already requested, and the person who has requested is already completed. What to request? The answer is: renunciation and full ordination. How to request? It is called "three times". If you request three times for renunciation and full ordination, then at that time it is already requested. The request here is: Please listen to the venerable Sangha, my name is so and so, I ask the Sangha for renunciation and full ordination to become a monk. Please compassionate venerable Sangha, for the sake of compassion for me, allow me to renounce, please grant me full ordination. This is the meaning of requesting three times with this mantra, which is the concluding word. The so-called "with request and four karmas" refers to the karma that has request and four karmas. Here it is said that: Any karma has three karma words

I, the one who performs the karma of request and four, am the karma of request and four. The term "statement" means to express in words, and is a synonym for "repetition." Regarding "sudden ordination and full acceptance," the word "sudden" here is a synonym for "at the same time." This is declared as follows: At the same time, suddenly, only at one time, both of those are accomplished, that is, they become fully accomplished by the Sangha of monks, not gradually. The word "sudden" here means "at one time," how is that to be understood? From the words of the mantra, like this, in the mantra it says: Venerable Sangha, please listen! This person named so-and-so, in the Sangha, requests ordination and full acceptance for the well-spoken Vinaya, to become a basis for a Bhikshu. Therefore, if the Sangha allows so-and-so to be ordained and fully accepted, then among the venerable ones, whoever can tolerate so-and-so being ordained and fully accepted, please remain silent. Whoever cannot tolerate it, please speak up. After the Sangha tolerates and allows it, the Sangha then ordains and fully accepts so-and-so. Therefore, because no one speaks, it is received as such. In order to declare this, this mantra says "ordination and full acceptance has already been done," the appearance of these two words should be understood as the basis here. As for "like the former ritual," the word "like" is a word of appearance, that is, the appearance of the former ritual should be understood as such, not another appearance, that is its synonym. The so-called "former ritual" means that compared to the current ritual, the former ritual will have other such appearances in terms of type, that is its synonym. Here some people say this, if the former ritual can accomplish the basis of the cause of ordination and full acceptance, then what is the use of the current ritual? If only the current ritual can accomplish the basis of the cause, then what is the use of the former ritual? Because one is enough. Then, there is no fault in that, because two
