This cushion does not incur offenses when reciting the non-common precepts. When reciting the Pratimoksha Sutra, listening without respect is close to creating, and should cause regret. This refers to: "I only know now," etc., just a slight pause should be understood as an act close to listening without respect. In reality, it is not so. If someone says, "Is this teaching only for us? We should also contemplate the forms of desire, contemplate the forms of harmful thoughts, and contemplate the forms of harm," etc., this should also be understood as an act close to listening without respect. Causing regret refers to the fact that offenses will arise for precepts such as "This is the sacred path." Here, the word "many" refers to stating many neighboring things, and all listeners should be integrated into it. This is to explain this principle. Here, "causing regret" refers to the fact that the Blessed One said, "O long-lived one, you have not obtained it," etc. These can be understood from the ritual called "Minor offenses and disrespectful listening to Uposatha," etc. For the objects of the precepts, especially openly confessing the offenses. Under what circumstances does it become an offense to repair needles and awls? Therefore, it is said in the sutra: making or having needles and awls made of ivory, bone, and horn. It means that making or having needles and awls made of ivory, bone, or horn will incur this offense. From here onwards, except for making clothes with cotton, only having others do it is mentioned for other offenses. However, doing it yourself is a heavier offense, so it is also included in these. Only the lightest is mentioned, but even if the heaviest is not mentioned, it is naturally established. That is why only this much is said. Repairing needles and awls, as well as repairing bed legs, is also in the case where the bhikkhu breaks them. Ivory, etc., are also prohibited because they are precious. Therefore, whatever is most precious should also be understood as being prohibited here, even including weapons, etc. For those things, those are even worse than these. Making things with jewels is inappropriate, so it will incur a minor offense.

Yes. As it is asked in the scriptures here, if a monk temporarily allows a monastic to use a needle made of precious jewels, what offense is committed? The answer is that it is an offense of wrong-doing. Obtaining what has already been made and using what has already been made, these are without offense, meaning that obtaining materials such as cloth, making something from it or having it made, there is no offense, nor will one be blamed for it, because this action itself is prohibited. Here, the scriptures ask, obtaining what has been made and using what has been made are without offense. It is not allowed to accept confession without asking if it has been broken, meaning that in front of whom one confesses an offense, that person should ask, 'Did you break that needle?' Without asking in this way, one should not accept the confession. If it (the needle) has not been broken, then it is not confessed, meaning that if someone confesses an offense without breaking it (the needle), then his offense has not been confessed. For the next five (questions), it is also necessary to have verbal inquiry. This means that for those below this training ground, those that exceed the size of the Sugata's (Buddha's) monastic robes, one should understand immediately. 'Those' refers to 'without asking' and so on. It should be understood as having the meaning of 'cutting off', that is, without asking whether it has been cut off, one should not accept confession. If it (the needle) has not been cut off, one should not accept confession. Here, the scripture says in the Vibhanga: In front of whom one confesses, that person should ask, 'Did you cut off that thing?' If one confesses without asking, then those offenses are not confessed, and that monk will also commit an offense of wrong-doing. For the offense of exceeding the size of the Sugata's monastic robes, it is not said that after cutting off, it becomes an offense. Here, the Vibhanga says 'after cutting off', this does not show the meaning, therefore, for other situations other than exceeding the size of the Sugata's monastic robes, it has the meaning of cutting off. 'Whether it is broken and cut off', for this question, through its inherent meaning, it is generally determined its way of existence. In order to show the particularity, therefore it is said 'has the meaning of cutting off'. Whether for those five (questions) also cut off
