Very badly done. You have done what should not be done. The Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, his Dharma is like this, teaching the Dharma of liberation of mind and liberation of wisdom in order to be free from desire. To be free from hatred and desire, to be free from ignorance and desire, teaching the Dharma of liberation of mind and liberation of wisdom, like this, you should not do such an unseemly thing. Ignorant one, you have grasped a black snake, whose venom spreads quickly, a potent poison, a sharp poison.

Grasping with both hands is not the same as being seized by a mind infatuated with the appearance of its own limbs. O foolish one, with which hands do you receive offerings of faith from Brahmins and believing householders? It is not proper to do such an unseemly thing with those very hands. O foolish one, you have failed in your service to me in this way. These two things extinguish the lamp of Dharma, the light of Dharma, the radiance of Dharma, the illumination of Dharma, the clear manifestation of Dharma, the lamp of Dharma, and the supreme clarity of Dharma. What are the two? They are committing transgressions and, having committed transgressions, not correcting them according to the Dharma. Two do not dig up the root of sin, do not strive to turn away from habitual actions, do not cut off the river and the creeper, do not subdue the demons, do not overthrow the banner of the demons, do not raise the banner of the Dharma, do not cut off the stream of sin, and do not follow the wheel of Dharma turned in accordance with the Dharma by the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha. What are the two? They are committing transgressions and, having committed transgressions, not correcting them according to the Dharma. Two lead to complete affliction, and two cause defilements to increase. What are the two? They are committing transgressions and, having committed transgressions, not correcting them according to the Dharma. Ananda, if you do not confess these transgressions and do not confess them individually, you will not generate the perception of impermanence, the perception of suffering in impermanence, the perception of selflessness in suffering, the perception of revulsion towards food, the perception of displeasure towards all the world, the perception of fault and the perception of abandonment, the perception of detachment, the perception of cessation, the perception of death, the perception of impurity, the perception of swelling, the perception of decay, the perception of putrefaction, the perception of being eaten by worms, the perception of being consumed, the perception of being bloodied, the perception of being scattered, and the perception of bones.

It is not appropriate to have a perception of emptiness by distinguishing it separately. Also, the first dhyana, the second, the third, the fourth, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity, the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception, the fruit of stream-entry, the fruit of once-returning, the fruit of non-returning, the fruit of arhatship itself, the realm of miracles, the divine ear, the varieties of mind, former abodes, death and birth, and the exhaustion of defilements are not appropriate. Kashyapa, if you do not confess this transgression and do not separately confess it, you should know that you will go to one of two destinations, either hell or the animal realm. The Blessed One also said that there are two destinations for concealing the end of karma: hell or the animal realm. Those who do not believe what I have said, I think they are concealing. Venerable Sangha, please listen. The monk Kashyapa has committed a Sanghavasesa offense arising from a certain matter. This monk Kashyapa has come to the Sangha and requested the Sangha to grant him six nights of penance for the Sanghavasesa offense arising from a certain matter. The Sangha has therefore granted this monk Kashyapa six nights of penance for the Sanghavasesa offense arising from a certain matter. This monk Kashyapa has completed six nights of penance for the Sanghavasesa offense arising from a certain matter and now requests to be expelled from the Sangha. For this reason, the Sangha should expel the six nights of penance that the monk Kashyapa has undergone for the Sanghavasesa offense arising from a certain matter. Venerable ones, whoever can tolerate the expulsion of the six nights of penance that the monk Kashyapa has undergone for the Sanghavasesa offense arising from a certain matter, let them remain silent. Whoever cannot tolerate it, let them speak. This is the first karma. Similarly, repeat it a second and third time. Sangha
