also does. This reason is irrelevant, as the action of belonging to speaking of an evil place of offense, by what means would it become manifest? It is not to be made manifest. However, here fame is a limb, and by fame alone should this be spoken. For this, just as one delights in uttering a downfall, it is not entered into by seeking the meaning itself, but because of fault, it is entered into in order to be harmed in the future. For that very reason, an impetuous bhikshu, when speaking, might say, 'If this is permissible for me, why is it not permissible for you to use your head on the gate of Jeta Grove like a vessel of sesame oil?' Therefore, it is better to recite and explain as before, and it should be known in the households in order to completely abandon all slander against the teachings. The offense spoken of as 'one's own,' etc., is because there is no other, just like concealing one's own offense of an evil place. Some say that a bhikshu's offense of an evil place, to a eunuch, etc., up to a shramana, is an offense. Some say it is a downfall. That is not reasonable, because for this, establishing one who has not taken full ordination as a limb, and also because this is the occasion for the downfalls of a bhikshu with reason. Furthermore, since it is spoken of from one who has taken full ordination, if it becomes a fault here, then should not bhikshunis, etc., who have not taken full ordination, also be spoken of? Therefore, all of this should be abandoned, and it should be recited in this way: 'Venerable one, if a bhikshu speaks of a bhikshu's offense of eating in an evil place to a person who has not taken full ordination, what would happen? It is an offense.' Similarly, a bhikshuni, a eunuch, a hermaphrodite, one who has made a promise, one who has been given training, a bhikshuni who has been expelled, one who has killed their mother, one who has killed their father, one who has killed an arhat, a heretic, one who has entered heresy, one who lives by stealing, one who has previously committed a downfall, one who was initially discordant, if they speak of an offense of an evil place to a person who has not taken full ordination, what would happen? It is an offense.

Completed. Venerable one, if a bhikkhu commits the evil place offense of causing dissension in the Sangha of bhikkhus, and speaks of it to someone who has not received full ordination, what happens? Answer: He commits a downfall offense. Similarly, if one speaks of the evil place offense of drawing blood from the Tathagata with malicious intent, and of a bhikkhu who dwells separately, to someone who has not received full ordination, what happens? Answer: There is no offense. The meaning here is that the evil place offense of a bhikkhuni consuming food is the offense committed by consuming food, connected with consuming food, which is the synonymous term for it. This offense is a defeat and a sanghavasesa, and because it is by nature extremely afflicted, it is given the name 'evil place.' It should be understood that hermaphrodites and the like are also similar to this, and it should be understood that this is because defilement has not arisen. The offense connected with causing dissension in the Sangha, etc., is also said to be a downfall offense when spoken to someone who has not received full ordination, and it should be understood that this is because the act of causing dissension in the Sangha, etc., itself does not negate the existence of a bhikkhu. Venerable one, if a bhikkhu speaks of the evil place offense of a bhikkhuni, etc., as a misdeed, it is because it is a discordant element. The determination of the downfall offense of speaking of an evil place is complete. How is it that 'having become supreme in human dharma,' etc., is spoken of as a defeat there, while here it is shown as a downfall offense? Answer: By stating 'if it is true.' Therefore, by the cause of truth, it is a synonymous term for 'not being inverted.' Although it is true, it is prohibited because faults such as arising from irrational attention occur to sentient beings who are not amenable to taming. 'Truth,' etc., is untrue in the display of a defeat, but here it is true, so the difference between these is that. 'Buddha and teacher,' etc., means that apart from 'I am the Buddha, the teacher,' the rest should be spoken. Having said 'they are,' then by this, one who speaks untruthfully is only speaking untruthfully. Thus, here there is a form body adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great person, and
