The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, praised that the past is the most excellent of all things. The Nirvana attained by the worldly path is not eternal, but the Nirvana attained by the undefiled path is eternal, because it is the nature of peace. How is patience the supreme asceticism? Therefore, a renunciate should not harm others, should not injure others, is not a Sramana. Thus it is said, harming others means harming with the mind. Injuring others means injuring with body and speech. Sramana means the nature of peace. Thus it is taught: Why harm others, injure others, the renunciate Sramana is not complete, therefore patience is the supreme asceticism, and its fruit, the Nirvana attained by patience, is also supreme. Therefore, it is taught that a renunciate should cultivate patience. The disciples of the Bhagavat Tathagata with the crown, their faults become small, because there are many who proclaim the faults of others, in order to completely abandon those faults, the Bhagavat briefly proclaimed the Pratimoksha Sutra in this way, reciting it twice a month: Those with eyes on the road, should avoid dangerous places, the wise in this world, abandon all sins. Do not slander, do not harm, should guard the Pratimoksha, know the measure of food, should dwell in a quiet place, should diligently cultivate higher mind. This is the teaching of the Buddhas. It is. Among them, those with eyes on the road, should avoid dangerous places. It means that just as a person with eyes is not blind, knows there is a road, therefore completely abandons uneven places that are the cause of terrible suffering such as abyss, thorns, poisonous snakes, etc. The wise in this world, abandon all sins. Thus it is said, wise people should also quickly abandon which sins in this world of Samsara? How to abandon those sins?

What should be completely abandoned? Therefore, one should not slander, one should not harm. And so on, it was said. Not to slander means that one should not slander others, whether it is true, untrue, or has happened. Not to harm means not to harm others with beatings, harsh words, and so on. One should also guard the Pratimoksha. The Pratimoksha refers to the seven types of vows that abandon killing, stealing, unchaste conduct, lying, divisive speech, idle chatter, and harsh words. To guard it is to completely protect it, and to teach the discipline of morality through the two aspects of the nature of prohibition and the nature of practice. One should also know the measure of food. This means that monks should also know the measure of food for edible food, and should fully know the measure of how much will not make the body heavy and drowsy. One should abide in a solitary place. This means that one should abide in the most solitary place. This should be known as teaching the collection of paths that are well suited to the body and place. One should truly apply oneself to higher mind. Higher mind means that which completely tames the mind, that is, that which tames the mind from the obscurations of desire and the obscurations of ignorance, that is, meditation with outflows and without outflows. To truly apply oneself to this is to practice true yoga. This should teach the training of higher mind and the training of higher wisdom. This is the teaching of the Buddha. This means that this path, which the Tathagata has briefly taught, is the path that includes the collection, and that itself is the teaching of the Buddha, this is the concluding statement. The disciples of all the Bhagavan Tathagatas are those with small faults, such as merely liking to associate with householders. In order to completely abandon their faults, the Bhagavan briefly taught the Pratimoksha Sutra in this way, and recited it every half month, just like a bee from a flowe

Like nectar, without harming color and fragrance, extracting the juice and flying away, so too, the capable one walks in the city. This is its meaning. For example, just as a bee extracts nectar from a flower without harming its color and fragrance and flies away, similarly, the capable one (Buddha)'s disciples, in order to beg for alms, walk in the city, and should also, like not harming color and fragrance from the city, not harm the mind and discipline, and like extracting nectar, obtain food and leave. This is its summary. The disciples of the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Wheel-Turning King, have already become small in faults, merely distinguishing between the faults and merits of others. In order to completely abandon those faults, the Blessed One summarized the Pratimoksha Sutra in this way, and recited it every half month: Observe your own lineage and non-lineage, and do not concern yourself with the disagreements of others and what others have done or not done. This is its meaning. The so-called "observe your own lineage and non-lineage" means to separately observe your own lineage and non-lineage. The so-called "disagreements of others" refers to non-lineage. The so-called "do not concern yourself with what others have done or not done" means do not observe the perfection and imperfection of others. Thus it is taught that if one distinguishes the merits and faults of others, attachment and hatred will arise. Therefore, abandon the distinction of others, observe yourself, and strive to make yourself better, so that there will be an opportunity to observe others later. The disciples of the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Golden Banner Buddha, have already become small in faults, merely cultivating meditation with desire. In order to completely abandon those faults, the Blessed One summarized the Pratimoksha Sutra in this way, and recited it every half month: Be mindful of the higher mind, learn the basis of the capable one's capability. Constantly mindful, tending towards peace, the protector is without sorrow. This is its meaning. The so-called "higher mind" refers to the four meditations. The so-called "be mindful" means to abandon existence, arrogance, and holding views as supreme, and to act cautiously. After teaching abandonment, he then taught acceptance.
