For. One should learn the Buddha's Buddha-base. Thus it is said, "Buddha" means "possessing knowledge." Because of repeatedly acting, it is "Buddha," that is, the Buddha, the Blessed One. The Buddha-base of that Buddha is the four noble truths, that is, by which the Buddha is produced. To learn these is the word of utmost learning and diligence. If one learns that, what will become of it? For the sake of showing the result. Near peace, always possessing mindfulness. Savior, without sorrow. Thus it is said, one should know that the nature of salvation is shown by near peace and always possessing mindfulness. Among them, "near peace" means "remaining without decay," that is, subdued by body and speech. "Always possessing mindfulness" means "always abiding in mindfulness." "Savior" means "protecting one's own mind." "Without sorrow" shows the end of birth, and one should know that it is liberation from sorrow. The disciples of the Blessed One, the Tathagata Kashyapa Buddha, are those with small faults. Because there are five things, such as respecting giving and having many enemies, for the sake of completely abandoning their faults. The Blessed One showed the ultimate Dharma, so this Pratimoksha Sutra is summarized in this way, so it is recited every half month. Giving increases merit greatly. Well-tamed, enemies do not turn. Possessing virtue, abandon sins. Because afflictions are exhausted, one is liberated from sorrow. Thus it is said. Among them, "giving" means the person who gives. He then will increase the meritorious action that has the fruit of enjoyment. By well taming and keeping the precepts, one will not turn into an enemy, because the enemy of keeping the precepts, such as killing, stealing, and lusting after women, is not born. "Possessing virtue" means having obtained the four dhyanas. He will completely abandon the sins of practicing in the desire realm, such as anger, jealousy, and wrath, which are the undesirable results of ripening. Because all the afflictions of the noble path are exhausted, one will obtain Nirvana with remainder and Nirvana without remainder.

Therefore, giving is the fruit of samsara, and one should not be stingy towards it. Stinginess is contrary to diligence in discipline, therefore, one should not speak words of stinginess. When the teachings of the Blessed One, the Tathagata Shakyamuni, have not yet declined, the faults of his disciples will be small. Therefore, the Blessed One summarized these individual liberation vows in verses, teaching them in three stanzas: Cease all evil; perform all good; purify your mind; this is the teaching of the Buddhas. Good is the discipline of the body; good is the discipline of speech; good is the discipline of the mind; good is discipline in all things. The Bhikshu who is disciplined in all ways is completely liberated from all suffering. Guard your speech, and thoroughly subdue your mind; do not commit unwholesome deeds with your body; if you thoroughly purify these three paths of action, you will attain the path spoken of by the sages. That is what it means. Cease all evil, this shows the training in higher discipline. Perform all good, this shows the training in higher wisdom, because abandoning all afflictions is ultimate good. Purify your mind, this shows the training in higher mind. Good is the discipline of the body, and so on, these four aspects show the perfection of discipline. Completely liberated from all suffering, this shows the distant fruit of practicing discipline. How does discipline lead to complete liberation from all suffering? Therefore, guard your speech, and thoroughly subdue your mind, and so on, it is said. Because perfect discipline purifies the gates of the lower realms and attains the path of the noble ones, therefore it leads to complete liberation from all suffering. This is the distant fruit of practicing discipline. Thus, having taught the individual liberation vows of the seven Buddhas in brief and in detail, now, in order to show the effort that should be made by way of conclusion, the Buddha.

I prostrate to all who protect, the Victorious Seer, and the World Destroyer, Golden Silent One, Light Protector, Shakyamuni Gautama, the God of Gods, the unsurpassed tamer of beings. By revering this, may you attain the unconditioned. World Protector, Supreme Savior, the Seven Buddhas, the renowned ones' Pratimoksha, this is extensively taught. To this, all the Buddhas and, the Buddha's Shravakas also revere. By revering this, may you attain the unconditioned. These three verses are spoken as a true collection. Among them, the term 'Victorious Seer' refers to the wisdom that sees and understands, which is the Victorious Seer. He who possesses it is the one with the Victorious Seer, a synonym for having wisdom.
