I, first of all, should say: 'Please come, welcome!' Speak pleasant words, agreeable words, and words that make people happy. When you see monks who have arrived suddenly, greet them in a friendly manner. Make them very happy with pleasant words. Ask: 'Did you have a safe journey? Did you arrive safely?' If the visitor is an elder, bow to him, take his alms bowl and Dharma robes, put them in the temple, and place them on a cushion. Wash his feet and wipe them. If he is thirsty, give him cold water to drink. Treat him according to the Dharma as much as you can and make him happy. Give him accommodations in order. Let him have the feeling of treating him like a mother, father, son, or brother. Think that you should not give up resting because of illness, this is called the behavior of those who dwell in the dwelling. What is the act of resting? If a monk who arrives suddenly comes to the temple, he should not rush to take the dwelling from the practitioners who are dwelling in the dwelling because he wants to get a dwelling. Sit in a conspicuous place. Behave slowly, dress neatly, and restrain yourself. This is also the act of resting. If the practitioners who are dwelling in the dwelling see a monk who has arrived suddenly, if he knows me, let him rest at ease. Act according to all the precepts of conduct. If you don't know him, don't let him rest casually. Also ask the monks: 'Who does this venerable one live with? What is his behavior like? What is the place of his behavior? What are his precepts, vows, and all his behavior?' If you understand his behavior, the place of his behavior, his precepts, vows, and all his behavior, then you can let him rest. Do not entrust the temple to him alone. Do not let him control the Sangha's treasury, storeroom, Sangha's bedding, and cushions. You must thoroughly understand him before you can trust him, this is called the act of resting. What is the act of space? Not all spaces are the same boundary, those who live there and those who live here work together, etc.

Returning is also not established. Staying here and staying there, working together is also not allowed, and returning is not established either. A bhikshu should not go out without monastic robes before dawn. After vowing to stay in retreat, from seven days onwards, one should not appear and reside from the sky without being blessed for forty days. If one appears and resides, one will lose the monastic robes, and the retreat will also be broken, which is called the act of the sky. What is the act of spreading out bedding? There are five benefits to spreading out bedding: there is no separation for one day, no transgression for ten days, no transgression for one month, one can hold any needed robes without blessing, and one can travel with upper and lower garments. Furthermore, there are five benefits to spreading out bedding: there is no gathering and eating, no eating again, no leaving without informing others, one can seek any needed monastic robes, and from the last month of autumn to the first month of spring, the monastic community of bhikshus who have vowed to stay in retreat, if the gains are not distributed, and if those who have spread out bedding do not believe, they should not give to others. This is called the act of spreading out bedding. What is the act of a water strainer? A bhikshu should not travel on the road without a water strainer. If that water flows continuously, it can also be drunk, unless it is water that is not mixed with other water, or a usable well, or if there are continuously monasteries at half a yojana and half a yojana. This is called the act of a water strainer. What is the act of reciting? The Bhagavan allowed two interruptions: entering into meditation and entering into recitation. The interruption place for entering into meditation is eighteen cubits. The interruption place for entering into recitation is twelve cubits, which is called the act of the interruption place. What is the act of the interruption place? If a bhikshu wants to interrupt, he should not interrupt too violently, nor too slowly, but should interrupt consciously. Maintain mindfulness, restrain the senses, and do not let the mind wander outwards. Do not adjust the striking, do not rotate with each other, and should interrupt uprightly. If one cannot interrupt uprightly, then use
