One who possesses morality is called the aggregate of morality. One who possesses virtuous qualities is called the aggregate of concentration. One who practices celibacy is called the aggregate of wisdom. Thus, one who possesses the three aggregates possesses qualities, so serving in such a way, not practicing celibacy, is shown to become merit. To constantly practice means to serve. 'This is the supreme of constant practice' means this is the supreme of sexual conduct. 'Praise' means to extol. 'The remainder' is as before. What kind of fault is it? There are eighteen things: supreme, principal, especially excellent, good, beautiful, virtuous, worthy of offering, worthy of praise, vast, most supreme, most principal, most especially excellent, most good, most good and beautiful, most virtuous, most worthy of offering.

Like a mother. Now, the matter of matchmaking will be discussed. The origin is that the Blessed One was residing in Shravasti. At that time, the son of the hunter's enemy, a black man, knowing this matter, would be consulted when marrying or giving away daughters. By acting according to his prophecies, the wives he arranged were all auspicious, and everyone gave him food and necessities. After the son of the hunter's enemy, the black man, became a monk, he again engaged in his previous evil deeds, matchmaking. Others also provided him with necessities and so on. The Group of Six monks also saw the benefits in this and began to engage in matchmaking as well. At that time, the non-Buddhists ridiculed, "These disciples of the Shramana Shakya, although they uphold the precepts, act as matchmakers like laypeople. What difference is there between them and laypeople?" The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One summoned the Group of Six monks and questioned them, "Monks, is this really what you have done?" The Blessed One recounted the events, the origin, and the reason for its occurrence, and then gathered the monastic community and proclaimed, "If any monk..." etc. "If any monk" refers to the Group of Six monks and others similar to them. "Soliciting words from a woman" refers to thinking about which woman can be defiled. "Soliciting words about a woman from a man" refers to which man desires a woman. "Wife, or good companion" refers to the seven types of wives and the ten types of good companions. What are the seven types of wives? The water-given wife, the wealth-bought wife, the banner-snatched wife, the joy-dwelling wife, the teaching-dwelling wife, the co-dwelling wife, and the momentary wife. What is the water-given wife? The man is given by his parents with water, and they proclaim, "This is your wife," therefore, fearing that she will be defiled by others, he cherishes and protects her greatly. Just as water cleanses sins, the remaining six types of wives are also similarly guarded and treated secretly. What are the ten types of good companions? The one guarded by the father, the one guarded by the mother, the one guarded by the husband, the one guarded by the siblings.
