Request. Recite it twice or three times like that, that is the request to dissolve the precepts of training. After that, the military commander Lion or the benefactor is removed from the vicinity of hearing and placed in the vicinity of seeing, and one monk performs the task of making the request alone. This is how it should be done: Sit down and say these words: Venerable Sangha, please listen. This military commander Lion is faithful, virtuous, and has good intentions. He has not failed to offer or completely give anything to the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, or the monks who are pleasing to him. He has offered and completely given in such a way that his enjoyment has been reduced and completely exhausted. Completely and thoroughly, because the Sangha wishes for benefit and wishes for good, the precepts of training were bestowed. The military commander Lion's enjoyment has also increased. If the military commander Lion requests the Sangha to dissolve the precepts of training that were bestowed, if the Sangha deems it timely and permissible, then may the Sangha grant permission, and the Sangha will dissolve the precepts of training for the military commander Lion. This is the request. There, these are the practices that the monks should universally practice: The monks should stay where the Sangha has dissolved the precepts of training for someone. They should enjoy the seat. They should receive alms. They should teach the Dharma. This is the ritual and procedure for dissolving the precepts of training for a householder who is a learner. In that, the term "learners" refers to those who have entered the stream, those who return once, and those who do not return. The term "any householder" refers to the householder who is a Brahmin and a householder. The term "Sangha" refers to the Sangha of the Buddha's disciples. The term "bound by the precepts of training" refers to the act of requesting. Furthermore, the term "any monk" refers to the group of six or anyone else like that. The term "the homes of learners, any that are bound by the Sangha's precepts of training" refers to those as described above. The term "without prior invitation" refers to, from the story of the origin, the venerable Shariputra and the great Maudgalyayana

As the general Lion had previously invited and the Blessed One said it was allowed, it was not started previously. The term "having gone" means after having gone. The term "one's own hand" means taking it in the hand with the hand. The term "food and drink" means the five foods and the five drinks. The term "having taken" means having put it into the power of giving and receiving. The term "swallowing" means swallowing into the throat. The term "that monk" refers to whichever monk it is. Having gone to the outer Joyful Garden, he said to the monks: Venerable ones, because there has occurred a cause for me to confess individually, an unblameworthy place, therefore, you should individually confess this Dharma. This Dharma should also be individually confessed, just as before. So, how does one incur a downfall? Here also, one should understand the characteristics of this place through the main action, the preparatory action, the downfall established by the preparatory action of the preparatory action, as well as the absence of downfall, what should be learned, and the remedial measures. Among these, here, the establishment of the downfall of the main action is: A monk, from a patron, a faithful person, a person of diminished resources, in front of whom the Sangha has given the precepts of the training, because he was not invited, from the house where the precepts of the training were given, other than garlic, radishes, and abundant turnips, if he takes and eats food and drink, either himself or by another, he breaks the precepts of the training and becomes the main action of what should be individually confessed for entering the house. There is no fault for any object to whom the Sangha has given the precepts of the training, who is a patron, a faithful person, a person of diminished resources. There is no fault for any monk who was previously invited in front of the giving of the precepts of the training. There is no fault for taking and eating from the house where the precepts of the training were given. There is no fault for any of the five foods and five drinks other than garlic, radishes, and abundant turnips. There is no fault for taking and eating by oneself or by another. The agent here is not having been previously invited, and the house where the Sangha has given the precepts of the training. Here, with five limbs, it becomes the downfall of the main action: it is the house of a householder, and not having been previously invited.
