Umbrellas should not be used. Likewise, honeycomb-shaped fans are also not allowed. These should be made of wool, elm, cotton, silk, or leaves. They should not be made of natural materials such as horsehair. Handles and cooling fans, etc., should be taken for the sake of the Sangha, not for oneself. To avoid difficulty in collecting alms, nets and bags should also be carried. Riding is permitted, such as in vehicles, small vehicles, palanquins, double palanquins, elephants, horses, mules, cows, and even donkeys. From female elephants to female donkeys, touching a female does not constitute an offense. Permission is granted when one is ill, fears illness, shows signs of illness, is weak, is preparing a purgative, has not recovered long after taking a purgative, is very young, is fatigued by the road, is traveling a long distance, such as going from north to east, or from east to the land of Tala, or is traveling on the road due to fear, or is traveling a very long distance, or in order to increase virtuous deeds and not diminish them, thinking of engaging in virtuous deeds, or when a patron strongly requests it, in order to protect their mind. Why is this? Because these precepts are established to avoid the term 'abandoning words' in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya. The Sutra also states that these two may travel in vehicles: those who are old and weak, or those who cannot endure suffering due to illness. Perfume is also permitted for the sick, but one should not enter the Sangha while applying perfume. One should not teach the Dharma to laypeople. Going to other people's homes should be avoided. After recovering, one should bathe and remove the perfume from the Dharma robes. Otherwise, applying perfume constitutes a transgression. If devotees offer it, it should be applied to the head and the edges of the feet with the palms of the hands. It should be worn from time to time for the benefit of the eyes. Flowers are also the same. After eating, one should not prevent devotees from applying perfume to the feet. They should be discarded secretly.

It should be done. Should incense be applied to the footstool of the lion throne? The limbs should be blessed with incense, and the feet should be placed where no stone or bamboo slab has been placed. Making a dot with cow-yellow is a fault. There is no downfall in applying it around the wound. There are many kinds of such medicines, here referring to the seven-day medicine, in order to explain ghee and so on. The so-called "instruction" is to explain in detail. The so-called "for example" is a particle of speech that closely indicates the meaning. The so-called "ghee" refers to milk and so on, which meats are edible. The so-called "oil" refers to mustard and sesame, and the fruits of the neem tree, and so on. Similarly, fat is also like oil, extracted from fat and without impurities. The so-called "honey" refers to the honeycomb. The so-called "molasses foam" refers to molasses, and some say it also refers to the white sap of the molasses tree. Holding ghee is holding thoroughly washed butter. Holding molasses foam is abandoning sugarcane juice and so on, and also refers to all forms produced from the molasses tree. Holding ghee and so on means that it can be eaten and drunk. In order to pacify the three, bile, wind, and phlegm, old honey and old molasses can pacify phlegm. Ghee and sugarcane juice can pacify bile. Oil can pacify wind. Molasses foam can pacify all three. The so-called "from those" refers to items that are not yogurt and so on. The so-called "seven-day medicine" refers to the necessity of limiting the excess. There is no downfall in holding it until then. The so-called "self-blessing" means washing one's hands, receiving the blessing, sitting in front of the monk, placing it on the left hand, covering it with the right hand, and saying: "May the venerable ones listen. I, named so-and-so, bless these seven-day medicines for seven days for me and those who practice celibacy to use." Like this, two or three times. It can be held until the end of life, and similarly, the appropriate amount should also be blessed.
