Speaking, if others understand its meaning, it constitutes a defeat. The agent of this is reversing perception, for the sake of the superior human dharma, for one's own sake, speaking in one's own words so that others understand the meaning. This has five branches that constitute the root downfall: reversing perception, the superior human dharma, for one's own sake, one's own words, and others understanding. If any of these branches are missing, there will be a corresponding reduction. The defeat of speaking, this is the fourth. O venerable ones, I have finished reciting the four dharmas that constitute a defeat. This is the conclusion of the recitation. If a bhikshu commits any of these downfalls, that is, from among the four defeats. As it was in the beginning, so it is later, meaning that just as there was no discipline in the initial state of being a householder, so it is in the state of committing a downfall. This is said to those with weak discipline, not to those with no discipline at all. As it is said in the Vinaya Pitaka of the Sarvastivada school of the noble ones: "Like debt and property, arising is considered twofold." Therefore, discipline is the activity of generating the mind, and the basis of training is the form of expression learned by body and speech. If it is repented with the mind, there is also a way to rise from the marginal downfall. It is a defeat, meaning that it shows the name of the category of downfall, and the meaning of the words has already been explained before. The bhikshus should not live together with them, and should not be independent in their enjoyment. This shows the fault of impurity. This is said with regard to those who have repented by giving the training, but it is not so if the act of repenting by giving the training has been done. Living together means in one place. Enjoyment means with dharma and wealth. Not independent means that it is not appropriate for them. Should not live means that the bhikshus should not perform the karmas of confession, self-surrender, request, request two times, and request four times together with them, and should not appoint them as one of the twelve people.

Here, I should ask the venerable ones: "Are you all pure in this?" I should ask three times in this way: "Are you all pure in this?" If the venerable ones are pure in this, then they should remain silent in this way, and it should be held as such. This is a Saṃghāvaśeṣa offense, and the establishment of abandonment should be declared, that is, the four Saṃghāvaśeṣa offenses should be declared here. The rest is as before. The abandonment of Saṃghāvaśeṣa offenses has been explained. Volume Four. Now, the third Saṃghāvaśeṣa offense is explained, that is, in the category of Saṃghāvaśeṣa abandonment, it is summarized in a verse: "Emission, touching, sexual, entreaty, praise, mediation, dwelling, large dwelling, and rootless, small Saṃgha strife and following, ruining families, displeasure." Thus it is said. The necessity and meaning of the words in the verse "summarized" are as before. There are thirteen Saṃghāvaśeṣa offenses, namely: emission, bodily contact, speaking of sexual matters, entreaty, praise, mediation, dwelling, monastery, rootless slander, disagreement with others, causing Saṃgha strife, following strife, ruining families, and displeasure. Venerable ones! These thirteen Saṃghāvaśeṣa offenses are declared in the Prātimokṣa Sūtra every half month. This indicates the basis for declaring the Saṃghāvaśeṣa abandonment. The so-called Saṃghāvaśeṣa offense refers to the fact that this offense depends on the Saṃgha, is related to the Saṃgha, and relies on the Saṃgha. This offense is only abandoned from the Saṃgha, not from an individual. Moreover, the four Pārājika offenses have no remainder, while this offense has a remainder, hence the name Saṃghāvaśeṣa. They are called Dharma because of their irreversible nature. The so-called "these thirteen" refers to the aforementioned emission, etc. The so-called "declared in the Prātimokṣa Sūtra every half month" is as before. Here, the origin of the Saṃghāvaśeṣa offense of emission is: The Blessed One, the Buddha...
