The qualities of, to show the greatness of the perfection of self-benefit, two kinds of perfections are shown, namely, the perfection of abandonment and the perfection of wisdom. Among them, the phrase "crossing the endless ocean of suffering" shows the perfection of abandonment. The phrase "Lord of beings" shows the perfection of wisdom. Thus, praising the qualities of the Lord of beings, the Buddha Bhagavan, namely, the perfection of benefiting others and the perfection of self-benefit, this shows offering through praising the teacher. Offering through prostration is prostrating through body, speech, and mind, which is shown by the phrase "prostrating with the head." After prostrating in this way, what should be done? One should vow to begin practicing individual liberation, which is shown by the latter half of the following verse. Through it, it is explained by whom it is taught, what is taught, and to whom it is taught, thereby elucidating the greatness of individual liberation. Then, it should be distinguished in the assembly of listeners by whom what is taught. Among them, by whom is it taught? By the teacher, which is shown by the phrase "all-knowing." What is taught? Individual liberation is taught, which is shown by the phrase "vessel of precious teachings." To whom is it taught? It is taught to the Sangha of Hearers, which is shown by the phrase "assembly of noble ones." It should be distinguished in the assembly of listeners by whom what is taught, that is, the teacher taught individual liberation, it should be distinguished in the Sangha of Hearers, which is shown by the phrase "to be distinguished in the midst." This is just the general meaning. Now the meaning of the branches will be explained, among which, for the qualities of the Lord of beings, the Buddha Bhagavan, becoming the method of perfecting the benefit of others, in terms of the perfection of the cause, the phrase "the banner of fame is proclaimed in the three worlds" was spoken. The so-called fame is that the Tathagata, from countless eons, has accumulated immeasurable collections of merit and wisdom, the fruit of the perfection of the cause, immeasurable qualities encompassed by abandonment and realization and unsurpassed wisdom.

pa'o. The term "Badan" (Banner) is used because the good reputation is like a banner, so it is called Badan, because the qualities are manifestly superior and clear to all, and because it is manifestly high when focused on it, and in order not to be mistaken on the path of definite goodness. The term "three realms" refers to the three realms of desire, form, and formlessness, which are summarized by relying solely on the destruction of the aggregates of existence. The term "fame" means that the sound of fame pervades them. When the Blessed One first attained perfect enlightenment, the first sound was heard on the earth. Then the sound was heard in the middle. Then the sound was heard in the realm of the Four Great Kings, and so on, up to the peak of existence. How does it sound in the formless realm? Because when one abides in the realm of form, the habit of fame exists in the continuum, and the effect is named after the cause, so it is said to be fame. Therefore, by showing the qualities arising from the complete cause of generosity and so on, it becomes a means of accomplishing the complete benefit of others, and shows the complete cause. In the power of complete benefit, he said, "The sound of the holy Dharma, the roar of a lion." The holy one refers to the Buddha, the Blessed One, because he has abandoned all defilements together with their predispositions. The sound of Dharma refers to the Dharma spoken by the holy one, namely the four noble truths, which are the sounds spoken from the throat of glory. The lion's roar refers to the sound of the holy Dharma being like the roar of a lion, hence it is called the lion's roar, which frightens heretics like elephants and gathers virtuous men like lion cubs. Proclamation means teaching, because the four truths are repeated three times, and the wheel of Dharma is turned in twelve aspects. Therefore, by the perfection of the teacher's actions, by teaching the Dharma to others, it becomes a means of accomplishing the complete benefit of others, and shows the complete benefit. In the power of complete wisdom, he said, "Omniscient." Omniscient refers to the Blessed One,

It is to show completely, uniquely, immeasurably, and without error the nature of things. Therefore, by establishing that the words of the All-Knowing are extremely pure, it becomes a means of accomplishing the perfection of others' benefit, showing the perfection of wisdom. Taking the perfection of compassion as the main focus, it is said, "Obtained the Treasure Trove of Jewels." "Jewels" refers to the Dharma Jewel of teaching and realization, which, like a jewel, is rare and precious, brings joy and benefit, and is an antidote to those who harm non-humans, etc. "Trove" refers to the Dharma Jewel, like a treasure trove of jewels. Its trove is the noble Sangha, because they have become its vessel through scripture and realization. "Obtained" refers to obtaining as disciples, because they follow the path of the teacher. Therefore, by completely maturing the retinue, it becomes a means of accomplishing the perfection of others' benefit, showing the perfection of compassion. Taking the perfection of the distinction of results as the main focus, it is said, "Brahma and Indra touch the jewel of the crown on the feet." "On the feet" refers to the feet of the Tathagata, which are marked with the sign of the wheel. In "Brahma and Indra," "Brahma" refers to having cultivated the special meditation of the first dhyana, obtaining the king of Brahma, the Great Brahma who rules over a thousand worlds. "Indra" refers to Indra, the lord of the thirty-three gods. Here, only these two, the chief of the earthly realm and the famous chief in the thousand realms, are mentioned, but others should be understood similarly. "Jewel of the crown" refers to the crown of the head, because it is the place where jewels are placed. "Touch" refers to their bowing and prostrating with their heads. Therefore, by the best of those who have obtained results in the world touching with their heads, it becomes a means of accomplishing the perfection of others' benefit, showing the perfection of the distinction of results. Thus, these are for the qualities of the Lord Buddha, the Bhagavan, the leader of beings, for the benefit of others.
