When the night merges into the fire element, seeing the celestial ship, Kapila, the large abdomen, etc., also merge into it. Their glory makes the entire royal palace as bright as the rising sun. Soon, King Embodied Heart arose in the night, and while assembling troops to subdue some mountain bandits, he thought: People's lives are very short, and who knows who will become king? Therefore, one should first go to see the Blessed One. Thinking this, he came out, and seeing such a bright light, he developed great faith. He was without arrogance, and with his well-equipped retinue, he went to where the Blessed One was. Then, the Blessed One spoke two verses. "The day is the day, the sky is clear and cloudless." This is expressed in words. Otherwise, it would not be beautiful. To illuminate means to be very beautiful and manifest. The moon illuminates the night. This refers to the night, when there are no autumn clouds, the moon is very beautiful. The king is resplendent in armor. This refers to the well-equipped army, and the king surrounded by the four divisions of the army is also beautiful. The Brahmin is resplendent when contemplating. This refers to the mind dwelling in a secluded place, diligently engaged in meditation and contemplation, and absorbed in the Samadhi of the fire element, which is also very beautiful and bright. Therefore, the light of wisdom, free from desire, illuminates like the sun in the daytime; compassion, like the full moon at night, completely satisfies. Endowed with patience, like a king clad in armor, one can withstand the harm of arrows without wavering. Alternatively, this is to show beauty especially through four states. If one asks, is there anyone among sentient beings and gods who becomes very beautiful in all states? It is said, "The sun illuminates the day," and so on. Constant refers to the state of cause and the state of effect, or not completely...

In the state of being liberated from suffering or not completely liberated from suffering, the Tathagata is extremely beautiful. Day and night are called the state of light and darkness. Or, it is hatred and faith. The Buddha is because the mind dwells in the omniscient wisdom. Manifestation is because the body's light is one fathom, etc. The mind is because of great compassion, etc. Splendor is because of the light illuminating. The Blessed One is always beautiful because of the body's light, and by proving this, it shows beauty and light. Therefore, it is said how from unpleasant places, etc. In the mango grove of Jivaka in Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir in Bihar), the Blessed One was dwelling there, and Ajatashatru came and (said:) Venerable, I have caused harm to you and my father, because relying on bad friends, I have done many evil deeds. Please have compassion on the evil deeds I have done, until this sentence, from which it begins. For the Brahmins, 'no' means the Tathagata, etc., who are free from desire from the three realms. 'Like this' means even a little bit of beings like this, born from afflictions. 'How' means any cause, that is, harmful thoughts and jealousy, etc. 'From unpleasant places' means from those who dwell in hostile places. The Buddha, the Blessed One, has no thoughts of hostility, because he has abandoned subtle obstacles including habits, and has great compassion. As it is said: What practice do others use to make it enter the three existences? You, even among friends and enemies, are loving like a close friend. 'Mind does not turn back' means there is no turning back of the mind, that is, I will not inflict benefits on them. Then, from what aspect, these two, death, etc., that is, from the Nirvana of the Blessed One, will the mind turn back? The noble one left the battlefield without regard for the prince and wife, how is that? The answer is: Thus, thus, because the connection of words is diverse. 'Thus, thus' means from where and where. 'His' means the Tathagata or his Shravaka.

oṃ. "Turning away the mind" means completely turning away from attachment. "Thus, thus" means from that to that, because one does not realize that very thing in the beginning. Exhaustion is seeing. Truth is existence. To distinguish it, it is called conventional, meaning the nature of the obscurations of karma, afflictions, and maturation. If it does not become a vessel, then considering the place and time, the Bhagavan turns away from that. Or, "as it is, as it is" means from this itself, that the mind turns away from anger in that way. Or, when sentient beings have not become vessels for realizing the truth, the Supreme Sage, having understood, turns away from the teaching itself. This shows the conventional truth. Even if a child is placed in attachment, worldly people will condemn the birth that goes without regard for him. The venerable Victorious in Battle, even having transcended that, does not rise up, and so forth. Thus, those who are free from desire have neither the pleasing nor the displeasing, for by following the world, they do not enter from anywhere, and they do not go recklessly in the world. Or, "as it is, as it is" means as long as it lasts, that as long as the obscuration of the one to be tamed exists, so long will the mind turn away, and not because of other causes of affliction. In order to show that those who are fortunate, relying on the Bhagavan's teaching, realize the suchness of things as they are, and thus obtain the desired fruit, it is said, "When the Brahmin," and so forth. Then, the Bhagavan, from the house of ease of the Naga King of Delight, went to where the Bodhi tree was, and having spread a grass mat, sat in the lotus posture, and for seven days, without moving from the lotus posture, he contemplated the twelve branches of dependent origination arising in order and reversing in order, and rising from that samadhi, he spoke seven verses. "When" means at what time. "This" means
