is the view. In the correct view, seeing it as the correct view, truly following and seeing, this is the correct view. What is the wrong view? It is seeing what is not there, there is no giver, there is no receiver, there is no offering, there is no good conduct, there is no bad conduct, there is no ripening of the fruits of good and bad conduct, there is no this world, there is no the other world, there is no father, there is no mother, there are no beings born miraculously, there are no Arhats in the world who have truly realized and truly abide, in this world possessing supreme power, my birth is exhausted, I have practiced pure conduct, what should be done has been done, what is to be done has been done, I do not know another existence from this, thus in this very Dharma that is seen, those who abide having made manifest the perfection of self-knowledge, they do not exist. Speaking thus, this is called a wrong view. What is the correct view?

Having mindfulness when cultivating right view is called right mindfulness. These three limbs of the path follow after the view itself, namely: view, effort, and mindfulness. Monks, from that, with right view going before, virtuous dharmas will arise. To rightly see that wrong thought is wrong thought, this is right view; to rightly see that right thought is right thought, this is right view. What is wrong thought? It is thinking in terms of desire, thinking in terms of malice, and thinking in terms of harming. This is called wrong thought. What is right thought? It is thinking in terms of renunciation, thinking in terms of non-ill will, and thinking in terms of non-harming. This is called right thought. To rightly see that wrong thought is wrong thought, this is right view; to rightly see that right thought is right thought, this is right view. Therefore, one should strive to abandon the wrong views of sentient beings, and for the sake of generating right view, this is called right effort. Having mindfulness when abandoning wrong view and cultivating right view is called right mindfulness. These three limbs of the path follow after right thought itself, namely: view, effort, and mindfulness. Monks, from that, with right view going before, virtuous dharmas will arise. To rightly see that wrong speech is wrong speech, this is right view; to rightly see that right speech is right speech, this is right view. What is wrong speech? It is lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, and idle chatter. These are called wrong speech. What is right speech? It is abandoning lying, abandoning divisive speech, abandoning harsh speech, and abandoning idle chatter. This is right speech.
