It is called unsurpassed bliss. Monks, dependent on the ear, nose, tongue, body, mind, and dharma, the consciousness of the mind arises, and from the union of the three, contact arises. Dependent on contact, feelings arise, namely pleasant feelings, painful feelings, and neither pleasant nor painful feelings. Therefore, regarding the arising of these feelings, and so on as before, by fully knowing their exact arising as it is, through the complete practice of the Dharma, these (afflictions) are exhausted, and the practices caused by other (afflictions) are also exhausted, Nirvana is attained, and it is called unsurpassed bliss, up to this point. The Teacher also said this: Form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharma, only these, the world including gods and humans, desire, suffering, and pleasantness, as long as they exist, are called happiness. Because detachment from desire ceases, therefore those should be regarded as suffering. When the view of the destructible aggregate ceases, others can see happiness. These arise from causes and conditions, but are not seen by all in the world. What the noble ones have spoken of as happiness, that is suffering to others. What others speak of as suffering, that is known as happiness by the noble ones. From where do children become ignorant, completely surrounded by darkness, like darkness itself, look at those dharmas that are difficult to understand. Just as seeing a lamp, those will become without obscuration. Some people cannot fully understand, how can they understand these dharmas? When the desire for existence reaches its end, one can correctly understand these dharmas. These, apart from the noble ones, cannot be understood by others. If one fully understands which state, one will not go to rebirth again. Thus it was said. When a feeling of happiness arises, it is called happiness. At the end of the third verse of the summary of the Middle Length Discourses, it is quoted from the Sutra of the Bhikshuni Dharma-giving, when the feeling of suffering ceases, it is happiness, the sutra is finished. Whatever is impermanent is suffering, regarding this. The origin of the story is in Shravasti. Monks, form is impermanent, whatever is impermanent is suffering. That is without self, whatever is without self, everything is

The saying "I am," and the saying "This is mine," and the saying "This of mine," do not exist. One should observe in this way with correct wisdom. Monks, the noble disciples who see in this way, who are endowed with hearing, will become weary of form, and also of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. Being weary, they will be free from desire, and being free from desire, they will be liberated, and being liberated, they will see the wisdom of liberation, saying, "My birth is exhausted, the pure conduct has been established, what was to be done has been done, there is no more future existence." In the fifth sutra of the second chapter of the summary verses of the collection of the six sense sources, the places such as form, and the internal nature of the sense sources such as the eye, are spoken of in this way. Whatever is felt, all of that is suffering. Regarding this, in the fifth chapter of the summary verses of the three doors with a correct basis, in the sutra called the fifth and the five branches established, the Venerable 'char byed (Illuminating Action) asked the Bhagavan, "Venerable, I ask the Bhagavan about such a meaning, Venerable, how many kinds of feelings are there? Please explain, Bhagavan." Illuminating Action, I also have a category of teaching where I explain feeling as one, I also have a category of teaching where I explain feeling as two, I also have a category of teaching where I explain feeling as three, I also have a category of teaching where I explain feeling as four, I also have a category of teaching where I explain feeling as five, I also have a category of teaching where I explain feeling as six, I also have a category of teaching where I explain feeling as eighteen, I also have a category of teaching where I explain feeling as thirty-six, I also have a category of teaching where I explain feeling as one hundred and eight, I also have a category of teaching where I explain feeling as immeasurable. Illuminating Action, what is the category of teaching where I explain feeling as one? Whatever is felt, all of that is suffering. Illuminating Action, with this category of teaching I explained feeling as one. Illuminating Action, what is the category of teaching where I explain feeling as two? Bodily and mental. Illuminating Action, with this category of teaching I explained feeling as two. Illuminating Action, what is the category of teaching where I explain feeling as three?
