The Blessed One taught, "This is the noble truth of suffering," and I have taken it to heart. It will not change into anything else, it is the only truth, it is as it is, it is not inverted, and for the noble ones it is the truth, therefore it is called the noble truth. The Blessed One taught, "This is the arising of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path leading to the cessation of suffering," and I have taken it to heart. It will not change into anything else, it is the only truth, it is as it is, it is not inverted, and for the noble ones it is the truth, therefore it is called the noble truth. Venerable ones, I have taken to heart in this way the four noble truths taught by the Blessed One. Monks, it is good, good indeed, that the four noble truths I have taught are taken to heart! Why is that? Because I taught, "This is the noble truth of suffering," and this monk has fully taken it to heart and says, "Thus..." As before, these are the truth for the noble ones, therefore it is called the noble truth, until the end of this statement. The arising of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path leading to the cessation of suffering, these noble truths have been taught, and this monk has fully taken them to heart and says, "Thus..." As before, these are the truth for the noble ones, therefore it is called the noble truth, until the end of this statement. Monks, therefore, in order to realize the four noble truths that have not been previously realized, one should have strong aspiration, diligence, effort, exertion, non-abandonment, and great striving with mindfulness and awareness. The happiness spoken of by the noble ones is the suffering that others can perceive. The origin of this discourse is in Shravasti. Monks, gods and humans delight in and abide in form, completely delighting in form, exceedingly delighting in form, very much delighting in form, and not being free from desire for form. When form ceases, gods and humans abide in suffering. Delighting in sound, delighting in smell, delighting in taste, delighting in touch, delighting in phenomena, completely delighting in phenomena, exceedingly delighting in phenomena, and very much

And delight, and without attachment to the Dharma, if they cease, they dwell in suffering among gods and humans. Monks, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, truly knows the arising, passing away, taste, fault, and escape of form. Because he truly knows the arising, passing away, taste, fault, and escape of form, he dwells in delight in form. There is no universal delight in form, no extreme delight, no manifest delight, and no attachment to form. If it ceases, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, does not dwell in suffering. Monks, the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, truly know the arising, passing away, taste, fault, and escape of sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharmas. Because he truly knows the arising and passing away, taste, fault, and escape of these dharmas, he does not dwell in manifest delight in the Dharma. There is no universal delight in the Dharma, no extreme delight, no manifest delight, and no attachment to the Dharma. If it ceases, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, does not dwell in suffering. Why is that? Because relying on the eye and form, eye consciousness arises, and from the union of the three, contact arises. Because of contact, feelings arise, namely pleasant, painful, and neither pleasant nor painful feelings. Therefore, he truly knows the arising, passing away, taste, fault, and escape of these feelings. Because he truly knows the arising, passing away, taste, fault, and escape of these feelings, all universal combinations with form are exhausted, and the combinations of other combinations are also exhausted, thus achieving Nirvana and bliss.
