It is not. To that which is not ceased, I thought thus: Has the appearance of seeing forms disappeared because a proximate defilement has arisen in my mind? Then again, I thought thus: A proximate defilement of doubt has arisen in my mind. The proximate defilement of doubt is the cause of obscuration, it causes the samadhi to decline, it weakens the eyes, it causes the appearance of seeing forms to disappear, so it is said. Monks, come here, if I instruct internally, the night will pass especially. This beginning was in Shravasti. Monks, the Tathagata knows which dharmas are especially devoted to the place that has been manifested, and for the sake of manifesting those, he enters, which is endowed with fearlessness. My Shravaka disciples, without deceit and flattery, upright and possessing an upright nature, come here! I will instruct, I will subsequently teach, I will proclaim the dharmas. If instructed internally, the intention will pass especially, and if the intention is instructed, the disease will pass especially. So, how does one truly understand the special dharma? Knowing what is, as being; knowing what is not, as not being; knowing what has a teacher, as having a teacher; knowing what has no teacher, as having no teacher. Whatever is to be known, to be seen, to be realized, to be attained, all of that has a place to be known and seen. Monks, there are five powers of learning, and the ten powers of the Tathagata. What are the five aspects of learning? The power of learning faith, the power of diligence, the power of knowing shame, the power of having embarrassment, and the power of learning wisdom. What are the ten powers of the Tathagata? Monks, here, the Tathagata fully knows the place as the place, and the non-place as the non-place, as it truly is. Whatever the Tathagata fully knows as the place as the place, and the non-place as the non-place, as it truly is, with what is this fully in accordance? The Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, vows in the supreme and great place, and when turning the wheel of Dharma, roars the lion's roar in the assembly.
