Or it is thought to be called "Mas-so," or those that are neither with outflows nor without outflows. Therefore, those that are explained by understanding through meaning, are they only without outflows? Or are they with outflows, and also without outflows? Or are they neither? Such doubts arise. There is also the possibility of distinguishing that they are both with outflows and without outflows. How is it understood? For the time being, according to the view of the distinctionists, because there is the saying, "Afflictions subtle and increasing, two kinds, non-afflictions increase," therefore, the eye and so on, and external forms and so on, those that are not afflictive, are increasing outflows, therefore they are with outflows, but not without increasing. Those that do not increase, are the outflows that have been abandoned, therefore they are not with outflows. Those that have not been abandoned, even those that exist in the continuum of others, are only with outflows, they say. According to the view of the exemplifiers, the eye and so on, and external forms and so on, that exist in the continuum of an Arhat, because they are not the basis of outflows, therefore they are also without outflows. Those are not the antidote to outflows, therefore they are also with outflows. Therefore, the eye and so on are considered to be both with outflows and without outflows, thus causing doubt. In order to dispel that doubt, it is said, "The truth of the path without outflows, and the three unconditioned." These are undifferentiatedly only without outflows. Not like what was said before, neither with outflows nor without outflows, because it is not, so it is explained again. However, the distinctionists think, in what way should the eye and so on of an Arhat be included in which side? Should it be included in the side with outflows, or in the side without outflows? They say, it is included in the side with outflows. How do those who have already abandoned outflows establish it as with outflows? Those for whom outflows increase, have increased, and will increase, are called with outflows.

Even if one wishes to express the meaning of the three times—past, present, and future—the combination of words in the present tense appears. For example, saying, "Those who make beings happy are kings," it is understood that those who have made happy, are making happy, and will make happy are all kings. Therefore, it is explained in that way. Alternatively, even if those who have already abandoned defilements no longer possess them, for the countless who have not abandoned defilements, even those present in the minds of others, are indeed with defilements. "Defiled and undefiled dharmas." Does not merely showing this briefly lead to the fault of implying a third aggregate? The answer is: Yes, it does. Because there is a possibility of a remainder. That is, those with defilements, those without defilements, and those who are both with and without defilements are called "defiled and undefiled," thus a remainder appears. Even for things with different essences, a remainder is considered to exist. Others say that this is only understood through meaning, and it is explained in detail for the sake of clarity. What are the three unconditioned dharmas? The reason for asking this is that it is not well-known. This is a question. Mentioning three is to ensure that only these three are considered. Some say that the unconditioned is only nirvana. For example, the Sthavira Nikāya. The Vaibhāṣikas speak of many unconditioned things, such as atoms, etc., and to refute their tenets, it is specified that only these three are considered. What are the two? This is asking about cessation through discrimination and cessation not through discrimination. The reason for not asking about space is that space is widely known in the world. Among them, in "the unobstructiveness of space," "among them" refers to a specific distinction or is just a particle. If explained etymologically, it is space because it reveals. Others say that it is space because things appear very clearly within it. Unobstructiveness means without obstruction. This is proven from the perspective of the agent or from the perspective of the object. That is, any dharma that does not obstruct other things or is not obstructed by other things is spa
