There are five kinds of seeds: the root seed, the departed seed, the seed of seeds, the trunk seed, and the stem seed. "Even so" means that even if those seeds are brought, those seeds and so on, from seeds, sprouts, and trunks, etc., sprouts and so on, that is, sprouts and trunks and other coarse things, are not allowed to be produced. Seeds and so on, according to their system, are the cause of the cause, not the cause of aggregation. Because the cause of aggregation is also needed, therefore, what is it? The phrase "only from one's own branches" is explained in detail, for example, sprouts and so on with branches are produced from the branches of sprouts and so on. "Those also" means that the branches of sprouts and so on are produced only from their own branches, and it is the same until it is produced from atoms. "Except for the meeting of atoms" means that for what is to be produced, seeds and so on have no power at all, but for the aggregation of atoms of sprouts and so on, they think that they have those powers. "Uncertain" means that textiles and so on will also be produced from threads and so on, which is the last sentence. "Because the ability is certain" means that because the ability of the seeds is certain, it will not be uncertain. "Just as sound and fabrication arise from production" means that, for example, although sound is produced from different kinds of things such as striking, only different kinds of striking and so on have the ability to produce it, so it is not produced from any different kinds of smell and taste and so on. Similarly, things produced from aggregation, although produced from the absence of color and so on, only fire and so on have the ability to produce it, so it is like not being produced from any different kinds of eyes and so on. The Vaisheshika school says: The Dharma of qualities is diverse, and it also arises from its own kind and different kinds. For the time being, what arises from its own kind is color, smell, taste, and touch, and so on.

Destruction is preceded by a cause, and form, smell, taste, touch, etc., arise only from them. From different kinds, they also arise from having and not having, and from arising from makers, such as karma and fire. Therefore, the dharma of merit cannot be used as a metaphor for things. Those and those alone exist in that way, and what is extensively explained about this is that rushes and so on are just like that. The nature of reeds and so on exists and abides in that way, and the name of reeds and so on is obtained, just like a line of ants. For example, just as ants existing in that way obtain the name "line." According to your tenets, there is no other thing of a line other than those. Rushes and so on exist in that way, and existing in that way obtains the name of reeds and so on, but there is no other thing for those. How is this known? Therefore, it is said, "If there is one thread, the cloth will not be seen, because if there is one thread made from fruit with eye and touch, according to your view, the cloth that has it is also related to it, so it will also be seen in the same way." If it is said that it is not seen because there is an obstruction, then at that time the cloth exists and is not non-existent, and who would obstruct what is to be seen? Saying that there is an obstruction is thinking that there is no obstruction. Therefore, there is no other thing called cloth. If it is thought that the cloth exists in each thread in part, but not in its entirety, therefore it is extensively said that it does not exist completely. If it is examined that the cloth does not exist completely, then each thread has a part of the cloth, but it is not the cloth. If it is thought, "What will happen if that is the case?" Therefore, it is said, "Only the collection will become cloth," connecting it in this way. One thread has one part, and another thread has another part, because it is on the thread, and the sum of the many parts that are on the thread becomes cloth. If that is the case, it is not accepted either. For those who have faith in gleaners.

It should be asked, what part of the cloth is there other than the threads? Through which part would it exist in the threads related to the senses? Therefore, by examining this idea, it can be determined that the cloth does not exist independently of the threads. If it is thought that even a single thread has cloth, and the reason for identifying the cloth is that the cloth is related to the senses, relying on multiple supports of the cloth, then, if examining the reliance on multiple supports, if only the edge part is possessed, and grasping it can identify the cloth, then without seeing the central part etc., the cloth will not be identified either. Or, if it is thought that even at that time, the senses and the central part etc. are not possessed, therefore merely touching the edge part will not identify the cloth, then, therefore, it will either never be identified, this statement has been explained in detail. Or, since the central and other parts are not related to the senses, the cloth will never be identified, because it is impossible for all the central and other parts that constitute it to be related only to the senses. If this is the case, then the same inference will apply to threads etc., therefore no result will be identified. Furthermore, if one touches the parts sequentially, this statement has been explained in detail, when the cloth is perceived sequentially through the eyes or the sense of touch, the cloth will not be grasped, because the eyes and the sense of touch do not simultaneously possess multiple supports. If this is the case, then other things with components etc. will also not be grasped. Therefore, this statement explains in detail that because the cognition of cloth or the cognition of a ball of thread arises sequentially, therefore due to separate thinking, the cognition of cloth or the cognition of a ball of thread only arises on the individual parts, that is, on the individual parts of the cloth or the individual parts of the ball of thread. Like a firebrand wheel, it is like a firebrand wheel, because it is similar to a firebrand wheel, for example, rapidly rotating a firebrand, the cognition of a firebrand wheel arises for the things that appear continuously, similar to this. What is to be proven here is that cloth does not exist as a substance, because what grasps it are the parts.
