Because of analysis, it inevitably follows that I am completely annihilated. Therefore, when the mind wanders, it follows that I either transfer or decline. If you say that (I and the mind) are united in one aspect, that is not right, because that aspect cannot be the very thing itself. Even if we allow union to exist, how can the union become distinct when the mind is always without distinction? If you say it depends on the distinction of intelligence, then how is it a distinction of intelligence? One seeks fault in that very thing. If you say that it is from the union of the self and the mind that depends on the distinction of formations (འདུ་བྱེད་), then it is merely the function of the mind that depends on the distinction of formations, and the power of the self is not at all apparent, just like a wicked doctor chanting "Om Svaha" to make the medicinal fruit effective. If you say that if the self exists, then those two can exist, that is merely words. If you say that it is a support, for example, like what relies on what, those are not reliance like drawings and tall trees, and it is not suitable as a support like walls and containers, because there will be faults of obstruction and difference. If you say that it is not a reliance in that way, then how is it a reliance? For example, like the earth for odors, etc. If so, this makes me believe that "I have no self," and makes me completely satisfied, for example, just as odors, etc., are not different from the earth. Who would definitely think that the earth is different from odors, etc.? The term "earth's odors, etc." is to specifically explain that odors, etc., are the earth itself, and not something else, just like "the body of the form of a tree." Even if it is admitted that it depends on the distinction of formations, why do all cognitions not arise at the same time? Because the strong one obstructs the others. Why does that strong one not always produce results? If this way is forced, then clinging to the self is meaningless. If it must be admitted that I am not devoured by demons, because memory, etc., are objects of merit, and that is also not devoured by demons.
