Whether it is far away or near, all of these are gathered together and classified as the aggregates of form. Therefore, the meaning of piling up is the meaning of aggregates. To this, the Vaibhashikas say that the past form has ceased due to impermanence. The future has not yet arisen. The present arising has not yet ceased. The internal is what exists in one's own continuum. The other is external. Furthermore, from the perspective of the sources of birth. Coarse is with obstruction. Subtle is without obstruction. Or, it is interdependent. If it is said that it is not established because it is interdependent, that is not so. Because there is difference due to dependence. What is coarse in dependence will never be subtle in dependence on it, just like father and son. The bad is with affliction. The excellent is without affliction. The far is the past and the future. The near is the present arising, even up to consciousness is the same. This is a distinction, the coarse is based on the five faculties. The subtle is born from the mind. Or, it should be understood from the earth. The venerable one said that the coarse form is to be grasped by the five faculties. The other is subtle. The bad is unpleasant. The excellent is pleasant. The far is the invisible object. The near is the visible object. Past and so on, is because it is indicated by its own name. Feeling and so on should also be understood in the same way. Their distance and proximity is due to the basis. Coarseness and subtlety are as before. The meaning of the gate of arising of mind and mental factors is the meaning of the source of birth. Etymologically, mind and mental factors grow and proliferate, so they are the sources of birth, which means to expand. The meaning of kind is the meaning of realm. For example, a mountain has many kinds of metals such as iron, copper, silver, and gold, which is called a realm. Similarly, a basis and continuum has eighteen kinds, which are called the eighteen realms. To this, the place of arising is called kind, for example, what is the place of arising of these such as the eye? One's own

are of the same kind, because they are the cause of having the same fate. If it does not become an unconditioned realm, then it is mind and mental events. Others say that the eighteen elements are the nature of lineage. It is called the eighteen elements because the word "element" is a word for lineage. If the meaning of accumulation is the meaning of aggregate, then the aggregates become nominally existent, because they are a collection of three substances, just like accumulation and person. No, because even a single atom of matter is an aggregate. If so, since there is no accumulation in a single one, it should not be said that the meaning of accumulation is the meaning of aggregate. Others say that the meaning of carrying the burden of affairs, or the meaning of complete severance, is the meaning of aggregate, just as it is said that the speaker should be placed in the three aggregates of poverty. This contradicts the sutra. In the sutra, only the meaning of accumulation is mentioned, and it is explained in detail what form, whether past or future. There, it should be known that the past form, etc., are each aggregates, and if it is said that all the past form, etc., are each the aggregate of form, then it cannot be understood in this way, because the sutra says that they should all be gathered together. Therefore, the aggregates of form are nominally existent like accumulation. If so, the colored sense bases also become nominally existent, because many atoms such as the eye are the door of birth. No, because the aggregates each become the nature of the cause, or because they act together with the object, they will not become sense bases separate from the root faculty. In the Great Commentary, it is said: If a Dharma Abhidharma master considers the aggregates to be nominally existent, then he says that this is a part of an atom, one element, one sense base, and one aggregate. If he does not think so, then he says that this is an atom, one element, one sense base, and one aggregate. Even if it is a part, there is also an imputation as a part with parts, for example, a piece of cloth.
