Because it enters into all necessities, it is of great significance. As it is said: 'The vows of a Bodhisattva, if properly taken, are more excellent than all vows properly taken, from the unsurpassed to, all properly taken vows of individual liberation do not even come close to one-hundredth of this.' and so on, it is extensively taught. So how should it be taken? It is said, 'That is through excellent intention.' Excellent intention is the intention to completely protect all beings, having a strong desire that is one with compassion, and the meaning of the intention to want to touch the qualities of the Buddha and Bodhisattvas. So from whom should it be taken? It is said, 'The master abides in the vows' and so on. It should be taken from someone who has the vows of a Bodhisattva and is in accordance with the Dharma, because it is not someone who has abandoned the vows, or whose vows are broken, or who is controlled, so it is not taken from someone who is not in accordance with the Dharma. Abiding in the vows is also not taken from everyone, so it is said 'skilled', meaning that it should be taken from someone who is skilled in the ritual of properly taking the vows of a Bodhisattva. Therefore, it is not taken from someone who is not skilled, because the ritual is incomplete, so the vows cannot be obtained. Even so, it is not taken from everyone, so it is said 'endowed with ability', ability is strength, meaning suitable for guiding and coordinating. Therefore, it is not taken from someone who does not possess qualities and is not suitable for taking the vows. Therefore, it should be known that the perfection of intention and action is appropriate. The perfection of intention is having faith, and making a firm decision to do it, not being attached, and having compassion. For those who wish to properly take the vows of a Bodhisattva, in particular, not to slander the mother scriptures of the Bodhisattva Pitaka, etc., having faith, treating the trainings with respect, and for entering the trainings, reducing conceptual thoughts and desires by nature, being content and having few desires, not being greedy for wealth, and having compassion.

Becoming, without weariness, forgiving the faults of others, without anger, without holding grudges, this is called (patience). Perfected application is to diligently cultivate for the sake of virtuous dharmas, to be respectful and deeply engaged, and in any case, one will not become ignorant of understanding any basis for learning, and it is with joy and without laziness, not craving the pleasure of desires, not delighting in commotion, and the mind is not distracted. Although one possesses ability, it is not to be imposed upon everything, therefore "lama" is mentioned, it is only from one who has become the position of a lama that one can impose, not from others, because equality does not hold him as a lama, therefore this person will not become one who follows his actions, because he does not have great respect for what he has done. Therefore, abiding in vows shows that this person's discipline is perfect. "Wise" means wise and proficient. "Possessing ability" means possessing perfect qualities, which is to understand the difference between these three. "Lama" means holding the support. For these two, whoever follows, the one who follows, virtuous dharmas will increase, this is the summarized meaning here. Therefore, a Bodhisattva, whether householder or renunciate, who wishes to properly take the Bodhisattva's vows of discipline, and who wishes to learn the three aggregates of discipline as previously taught, must first ascertain such a noble person, then prostrate at his feet and make this request: 'I, son of good family, wish to properly take the Bodhisattva's vows of discipline from you, please allow me.' Repeat this three times. After making such a request, in order to examine whether this person is capable of becoming a vessel, he should be made to listen to the Bodhisattva's precepts and say: 'Are you willing to learn these?' When saying this, if he says that he is very willing, and spends his days with changes in his face and eyes, then who for this purpose
