A Difficult Commentary on the Twenty Verses on the Bodhisattva Vows. By Bodhibhadra. A Difficult Commentary on the Twenty Verses on the Bodhisattva Vows. By Bodhibhadra. In Sanskrit: Bodhisattva Sambara Vimshika Panjika. In Tibetan: A Difficult Commentary on the Twenty Verses on the Bodhisattva Vows. Homage to the youthful Manjushri Bodhisattva! Homage to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha! Whose mind, like medicine with compassion, is for pacifying the suffering of those who are afflicted with suffering. Whose own self, in the end, is like a dewdrop on the grass, abiding in a state of undiminished vision. Who, with extraordinary diligence, practiced austerities for a long time to fulfill the purpose of accumulating merit. For the sake of accomplishing the glory of beings, a single protector of the earth has appeared. Who, though abiding in form, is pure by nature, and is never tainted by the many forms of affliction arising from the seeds of erroneous imputation. Who destroys the net of all assemblies of delusion by opening it up. Therefore, the profound Dharma, free from elaboration, has been thoroughly understood by you. To those who have become great beings by their very nature, you have spoken completely. With compassion surpassing realization, you have spoken the words of the teachings. O Wise One, who, without regard for the sake of enlightenment, holds them on your crown! Born from the supreme Sage, possessing peaceful conduct, the sole performer of the deeds of sentient beings. Those who are attached to objects and object-holders. In the prison itself. The lords of the desire realm, bound by various bonds, without refuge. Who, following after mindfulness, liberates those without knowledge. Universally leading, binding with armor that overcomes desire. Homage to them, bearing the burden of benefiting others. For the sake of dispelling the darkness of ignorance. The great one, the twenty verses on the vows. A clear explanation of the commentary, I shall begin to compose. Here, one who solely takes refuge in the Three Jewels. One who possesses discipline. One who possesses faith. One who possesses compassion. One who generates the mind of enlightenment. One who has the nature of upholding and diligently practicing the Bodhisattva vows, striving to increase the vows, so that the accumulation of merit will be quickly perfected. The teacher Chandragomin and others.

Focusing single-mindedly on the meaning, utterly fearless, those who have entered the great earth, having correctly seen that the training with the correct acceptance of vows as a prerequisite should be diligently practiced. Desiring to correctly gather the discipline of the Bodhisattvas, in order to show the manifestation of the ritual for correctly taking the vows that serve as the cause for the term "Bodhisattva," for the time being, it is like this. The mention of "Buddhas" and so forth, the so-called "Buddhas" refers to the Tathāgatas, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas. These Buddhas themselves, through the union of wisdom and compassion, have the power to engage in the benefit of others. The indication in the plural is to gather together all the Buddhas of the three times. Among them, the past refers to the teachings of those Buddhas, the Bhagavat, which have already disappeared. The future refers to those who, for the sake of Buddhahood, have perfected the accumulations and are merely abiding in the time for taming, and who will manifest complete enlightenment. Like this refers to those whose teachings have not yet disappeared. The so-called "together with their sons" refers to being together with their sons. It is not only the Buddhas alone, but also together with the sons of the great Bodhisattvas who have entered the great earth. They too are equal to the perfect Buddhas here. Respecting them, with a mind of joy in their qualities, saying "I prostrate and pay homage," and after prostrating with extreme reverence of body. The so-called "as much as possible" refers to being in accordance with one's wealth. After making offerings, connect "one should take the precepts of the Bodhisattvas." In order to cool down with great diligence in embracing oneself and others, and with a combination of no regret and great joy, therefore it is discipline. In the so-called "Bodhisattvas," bodhi refers to the wisdom that has exhausted all defilements in every way. Mind refers to intention, whoever has the intention to completely tame all beings is called a Bodhisattva. Theirs, the so-called "abiding in all directions and times" refers to all ten directions, such as the east, and all three times. Abiding
