Whether one has done wrong to others? Or even if one suspects of having done wrong. If one does not discipline harmoniously with a whip due to universal torment or the oppression of arrogance, and abandons it, it becomes a fault of affliction. If it is due to laziness etc., it is not a fault of affliction. Wanting to subdue with that method, or the other person being a non-Buddhist, or being naturally quarrelsome, or behaving inappropriately, always doing sinful things, wanting to allow punishment with a whip, or after being punished with a whip, mostly becoming agitated and generating strength, or hoping that the other person is one who has patience and a way of conduct, and is one who has no universal torment. If the other person feels very ashamed by being punished with a whip, there is no fault. Regarding "the other person with a whip" etc., because of some unpleasant reasons, preventing others from punishing is like a Dharma of a place of wrongdoing. Bodhisattvas, for some who have disputes, because of being angry with others, so those people at the appropriate time punish with a whip according to the Dharma, but if due to universal torment or the thought of harming, they do not listen to the punishment with a whip, it becomes a fault of affliction. Intolerant

And, if one gathers a retinue with a mind mixed with distraction, due to complete attachment to service and reverence, it becomes a fault with afflictions. Gathering with a heart of love, and possessing reasonable service and reverence, there is no fault. Laziness, and so on, so-called laziness, and so on. Laziness is the sluggishness of body and mind. The word "and so on" includes idleness and the pleasure of sleep, as well as the pleasure of lying down, and the pleasure of idle talk. If one does not eliminate these, it is a dharma like a place of wrongdoing, because one has fallen away from the perfection of discipline that gathers virtuous dharmas. If a Bodhisattva develops laziness and idleness, and enjoys the pleasure of sleep, or the pleasure of lying down, or the pleasure of idle talk, at an inappropriate time and without restraint, it becomes a fault with afflictions. If one is sick and unable to do so, or is exhausted by the road, or enjoys it at the appropriate time and with restraint, and wants to abandon it but is overwhelmed and continues to practice it, there is no fault. Attachment, so-called attachment, and so on. Spending time with idle talk is falling away from the discipline of guarding, even though one is in the midst of noise, one does not accept evil words, therefore it is a dharma like a place of wrongdoing. If a Bodhisattva spends time relying on joking talk due to complete attachment, it becomes a fault with afflictions. Forgetfulness is not with afflictions. Listening for a moment in front of others, or being surprised and asking, or answering the questions asked, there is no fault in just that. Contemplation, so-called contemplation, and so on. Instruction, so-called instruction is remaining. Not seeking the meaning of contemplation is falling away from the discipline of guarding, striving to manifest contemplation, therefore it is a dharma like a place of wrongdoing. If a Bodhisattva wants to keep his mind on the meaning of contemplation, but is overwhelmed by anger and pride, and does not go to a virtuous friend to seek instruction, it becomes a fault with afflictions. Laziness, and so on, is not with afflictions. If one is sick and unable to do so, or is worried that the instruction will appear wrongly.

Regarding "Sapa," etc., can one who has heard much himself abide in equanimity? If one has already given instructions with key instructions, there is no fault. Regarding what is called "obstacles to meditation," etc., taking on obstacles to samadhi is a fault, as it is a falling away from not taking on the evil thoughts of the Pratimoksha vows, and from not engaging in the afflictions of the samadhi of the discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas, so it is a dharma like a place of wrongdoing. If a Bodhisattva engages in meditation, the obstacles to meditation, that is, the dharmas that will interrupt it, desire for pleasure, malice, drowsiness, sleep, excitement, regret, and doubt, if one experiences them when they arise, it will become a fault of affliction. If one wants to abandon them, but is overcome by strong afflictions and engages in them, there is no fault. Regarding "taste of meditation," etc., experiencing the bliss of meditation and seeing it as a virtue is a fault, as it is a falling away from not taking on the taste of the samadhi of the discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas, so it is a dharma like a place of wrongdoing. If a Bodhisattva experiences the taste of the bliss of meditation and sees it as a virtue, it will become a fault of affliction. The absence of fault is like what has just passed. Regarding "Shravaka Vehicle," etc., abandoning the Shravaka Vehicle in particular is a fault, as it is a falling away from the wrong view of the pure discipline gathered by the discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas, so it is a dharma like a place of wrongdoing. A Bodhisattva, whatever a Bodhisattva should not listen to dharmas associated with Shravakas, should not hold them, and should not study them. If a Bodhisattva listens to dharmas associated with the Shravaka Vehicle, holds them, and studies them, what is the use, there is no need, seeing and saying so, it will become a fault of affliction. Thus, a Bodhisattva must also strive for a while in the treatises of non-Buddhists, what to say of the Buddha's teachings? In order to completely prevent desire for them.
