Not abandoning latent tendencies, and constantly engaging in inappropriate mental activity, one also takes objects of desire. To the inferior, it is said to be prolonged, which is extreme attachment. This action also arises naturally due to long-standing habituation, and is extremely pleasing, and when circumstances quickly approach, even acting out of compassion for others is without fault. If one engages in sexual activity with a mind that is close to conceptualization, it will lead to downfall and uninterrupted descent into hell, and many who should be tamed will also lose faith in the Dharma, and worldly people will also only remain in that state. Seeing these faults, the great beings do not engage in union based on sexual desire. Likewise, killing and so on are not done by them, because they are not caused by such a close dwelling of conceptualization. However, a Bodhisattva towards a thief, if the thief intends to kill many sentient beings such as Arhats, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas, who possess great lives, for the sake of a small amount of wealth, and has already begun to commit many unpardonable karmas, the Bodhisattva sees this, and having seen it, thinks in his heart: If I kill that sentient being, although I will be born in the hells of sentient beings, it is better for me to be born in the hells of sentient beings, this sentient being has killed many people and has also committed unpardonable karmas, it is unforgivable to fall into hell. Thinking like this, although hesitant, if he only separates him from life with a compassionate heart, it will not be a fault, and many merits will also increase. If there are thieves who rob others of their wealth, rob the wealth of the Sangha and stupas, take it as their own and want to enjoy it, the Bodhisattva then takes back the wealth from them, thinking: If they enjoy this wealth, they will suffer meaninglessness, harm, and unhappiness for a long time, which is unbearable. Having thus taken it back, he offers the property of the Sangha to the Sangha, and the property of the stupa to the stupa.

They also offer it to them. In this way, even if it seems like taking what is not given, there will be no fault, and merit will increase greatly. Similarly, it should also be understood that those who harm others with great force, such as kings or powerful ministers of kings, or those who manage the sangha and stupas, or those who guard monasteries, if they unreasonably waste the property of the sangha or stupas, can be collected from royal power and so on. Even if that Bodhisattva does not speak a knowing lie for the sake of his own life, he only speaks lies with a pure mind and compassion in order to save the lives of others and to rescue them from punishment. By speaking in this way, there will be no fault, and merit will also increase greatly. For those sentient beings who are completely seized by unwholesome friends, with only a compassionate mind, thinking, 'It is not good if these people are harmed and become meaningless for a long time by associating with evil friends!' In order to separate them from evil friends, they will try their best to separate them in various ways and speak words that are incompatible. In this way, even if they cause discord among friends, there will be no fault, and merit will also increase greatly. Furthermore, for those sentient beings who have entered the wrong path and are doing unreasonable things, in order to turn them back from that path, it is necessary to constantly rebuke them with harsh words until they gradually become liberated from sin. In this way, even if the Bodhisattva speaks harsh words, there will be no fault, and merit will also increase greatly. Furthermore, for those sentient beings who are fond of dancing, singing, music, kings and thieves, food and drink, prostitutes, street gossip, and so on, it is necessary to please them with those words, arouse their desire, control them, and make them listen, and then lead them from the unwholesome to the wholesome. In this way, even if they speak various frivolous words, there will be no fault, and merit will also increase greatly. The Bodhisattva possesses wisdom.
