It becomes a cause of downfall. Laziness and so on are not afflictive. Having no fault is like falling. From any side of falling, one must distinguish this downfall of wrong action, because it is completely taken by stinginess. Similarly, for those below, one must also distinguish with that and that affliction, and one must remember the side of downfall of falling. From the perspective of falling, the difference is explained, because the nature cannot be understood, it is not other, and the third downfall cannot be accomplished, so it is established that it is included in the Dharma of wrong action. Those called "breakers of discipline" and so on, abandoning those who break discipline, because they have fallen from the other of the discipline of vows, it is a Dharma like the place of wrong action. Bodhisattvas, if they abandon sentient beings who break discipline and act wrongly with universal torment and so on, and despise them because of breaking discipline, and do not harm their benefit and happiness, it will become an afflictive fault. Laziness and so on are not afflictive, because compassion arises for them. If one wants to subdue them, and protect the discipline of the Sangha, and protect the minds of many others, there is no fault. Those called "the other shore" and so on, in order to make other Shravakas and so on have faith, not studying the precepts that have been established, because they have fallen from the Paramita of the discipline of accumulating virtuous Dharmas, it is a Dharma like the place of wrong action. A renunciate Bodhisattva, in order to make others who have no faith have faith, and to increase those who have faith, in order to abandon the faults that the Bhagavan has established in the Vinaya of individual liberation, for those established bases of learning, if one does not study with no faith and disrespect, it will become an afflictive fault. Laziness and so on are not afflictive. There, whatever and whatever Dharma is universally practiced, that will become a fault, because Bodhisattvas are most superior in the activities of others, and renunciates are for their own.

Therefore, these precepts must be strictly observed. If Bodhisattvas should also study the precepts of the Śrāvakas, wouldn't Bodhisattvas then become accustomed to wanting little and being content? Answer: This is to show that one becomes accustomed to wanting little and being content by focusing on one's own benefit, but not when focusing on the benefit of others. Therefore, it is mentioned, "For the sake of sentient beings," and so on. If one is less active in focusing on the benefit of others, it is like an offense of minor transgression because of violating the precepts of serving sentient beings. If a Bodhisattva focuses on benefiting sentient beings, but dwells with little desire and little interest due to anger and so on, then it becomes an offense of affliction. Laziness and so on are non-afflictive. Even so, for the sake of others, even if a Bodhisattva obtains hundreds of thousands of garments from Brahmins and householders who are not relatives, they should still seek them out. Even so, after examining, they should take only what is needed. Similarly, they should also accomplish it for others. Not becoming an offense is the same as abandoning. The phrase "with compassion" and so on is to specifically exclude "not associating with others, not learning from others." "With compassion" means having compassion and love, and if such a person with compassion is skilled in means, even killing people, taking what belongs to others, engaging in sexual activity, lying, causing discord, scolding with harsh words, speaking idle chatter, and so on, if a Bodhisattva is skilled in means, even if they engage in these prohibited evil deeds, they will not commit an offense, but will become pure, and merit will increase greatly. What need is there to mention those actions that are permitted? Therefore, great Bodhisattvas who possess great miraculous powers, in order to protect children, can even engage in sexual practices, what need is there to mention other things? Because children temporarily
