Then, how should those transgressions other than downfalls be rectified? Here, things like "afflictions" are mentioned. Here, one should also consider the phrase "to one's own mind." That is, those transgressions and downfalls arising from afflictions and those not arising from afflictions, which are about to be explained, should also be confessed before one's own mind. This refers to the meaning of the word "non-sinful" here. If there is no one to perform such rectification, then when afflictions and non-afflictions arise, one should generate the mind to never engage in them again from the depths of one's heart, and one should also vow never to do such things again in the future. The meaning is that medium-level downfalls can be restored by confessing in front of three people, but not in front of two or one. Minor downfalls can also be confessed in front of one person. Similarly, transgressions arising from afflictions and those not arising from afflictions can also be restored by confessing to one's own mind and strictly restraining oneself. In order to confess these transgressions, it is not necessary to seek out one or three people, as is the case with minor and medium-level downfalls. Furthermore, reciting "like one's own mind" is incorrect, because this is not mentioned in the Bodhisattva Pitaka, and the word "like" is also unreasonable; it is a false statement. The word "like" usually indicates equality, and it connects an uncertain statement with the meaning to be proven. Therefore, for the time being, the method of confessing to one's own mind in order to recover from downfalls is not very certain, because if there is no one nearby as mentioned earlier, then this ritual should be performed afterward. Precisely for this reason, the ritual of relying on others to recover from downfalls is not very uncertain. If it were possible to confess in front of one person in the same way as confessing before one's own mind, that would be even better, but such a ritual has already been explained earlier. Therefore, saying "like one's own mind" is a false fabrication, because starting to explain other rituals for recovering from downfalls is equivalent to abandoning the nearby object, and therefore it is not a correct ritual. Precisely for this reason, downfalls can be eliminated by confessing to others.

In order to rise from (sins), the transgressions of medium and small defilements, and those not in accordance with this rule. It is not stated in the Bodhisattva Pitaka as 'like that'. But it says this: If a Dharma like a place of defeat arises from medium entanglement, then one must confess before three people or more. If a Dharma like a place of defeat is caused by small entanglement, then it should be known to confess before one person. Also, if there is no person suitable to confess to other transgressions, the Bodhisattva should generate the intention not to do it from now on, and later keep the vows, which is taught as a way to rise from those transgressions. The teaching of 'to three' should be regarded as including certainty. Because it is only three, not before two or one. Because of the small number, like ordinary people, even if the act of rising from transgression is done, it becomes as if it were not done. 'Or more' means more than three, that is, before four or more. Because the number is greater, it is done better. For 'before one person', the word 'also' should be added, and 'confession' should be determined here. The meaning here is also before one person, not just confessing before two or more. The vows of one's own mind, and the word 'also' in 'other transgressions', is to quote 'one should know to confess before one person', and it should be considered that the Buddha's teachings are not without order. So, does 'one should know to confess' not mean that other transgressions of wrongdoing other than minor transgressions should be known to be confessed before one person? If you ask why these are only considered confessions, and why 'if there is not' etc. is said to show that this is not the case? The meaning is that other transgressions should also be known to be confessable, and if there is no object of confession, then one should know to generate the mind not to commit them again in the future. Otherwise, even if the number of people is different

What is the purpose of the doctrine? If it is thought that even minor transgressions can be well guarded against, then there is no point in separately explaining the dharma that is like a defeat caused by minor entanglements. Likewise, medium transgressions are explained as something to be confessed, and since the others are no different, it would be unreasonable to explain confession and good protection. If medium transgressions are also guarded against, then there is no need for a number of three or more people. Therefore, it has been established that confession is necessary. If there is no one, it must be guarded with the mind, so it is okay to confess to one person or to many people, there is no certainty about this. In this way, the number of people is reasonable. If there are no transgressions to be confessed that are less than that, then how can there be an opportunity to guard against them with one's own mind? Therefore, what has been explained is reasonable. Having seen it in this way, the author of the sutra said: Medium transgressions, confess to three. The rest, in front of one person. Affliction, non-affliction, to one's own mind. In this way, these three sutras are explained separately. Otherwise, how could the great self, endowed with great compassion and pure wisdom, be so ignorant or unskilled as to explain such a meaning? It is enough to elaborate a little. So, what are the transgressions called affliction and non-affliction? Attachment, extreme distress, anger, jealousy, pride, distrust, and disrespect, etc., transgressions caused by the mind of affliction are affliction. Transgressions caused by laziness, sloth, carelessness, and forgetfulness, etc., are non-affliction. For things other than offering to the Three Jewels, it is non-affliction, but for this, doing sloth and laziness, etc., is considered affliction. Among them, extreme distress is disturbance. Anger is hatred. Laziness is not enjoying virtue. Sloth is doing
