To establish (this view), it is said, "As long as one is in the nature of non-duality," and so on. As long as the yogi's mind does not abide in mere consciousness, which is free from the nature of both the apprehended and the apprehender, then the habit of the two graspings (apprehender and apprehended) cannot be abandoned. To explain the second meaning of the verse, it is said, "Here, the object of the external realm," and so on. Such an explanation is to explain this meaning: as long as one has not abandoned the attachment to external objects, then one will not be able to abandon the internal grasping attachment either. Therefore, sentient beings think: I grasp forms, etc., through the eye, etc. To ask in order to connect with the following, it is said, "Now this is to be said," and so on. When a yogi takes mere consciousness, which is devoid of real meaning, as an object, does he abide in the nature of mind? To this, the proponent says, "No," and so on. It should be understood that this is not abiding in the nature of mind. When one thinks that these are merely consciousness, because such an appearance arises, at the time of grasping, one puts any object in front of oneself. If one puts any object in front of oneself, then one is not abiding in mere consciousness. Because in this way, all other objects are blocked, and only consciousness itself is focused on. As long as one discriminates any object, whether internal or external, how can one abide in the nature of mind? To make another verse connection, it is said, "Or those with manifest pride," and so on. Some yogis mistakenly learn about mere consciousness, and merely by hearing the treatises that explain mere consciousness, they arrogantly think: I abide in pure mere consciousness, and I will not even discriminate the grasper or the grasped. To refute this false arrogance, it is said, "These are merely consciousness," and so on. Again, one should focus on mere consciousness itself, not because it is placed in front of one that one abides in it, but falsely focuses on the appearance of the grasper and the grasped.

This is the practice. How to contemplate? It says, "These are only consciousness," etc. To contemplate with the aspect of "these are only consciousness" is sufficient. To show the different names of this, it says, "Grasping," etc., up to "Grasping at the characteristics, and its appearance arises." This "in front" is this "manifest," which is a synonym for "manifest" to the mind. The explanation of this "establish" is to establish with the mind as it is heard, that is, as it is heard, to contemplate only consciousness with the mind, and to establish it in front, which is a synonym for "establish." Again, in order to explain other limbs, it says, "Because the contemplation of the yogi has many aspects," etc. Like this, because there are many contemplations, it says "any one." If one contemplates a small part of only consciousness and establishes it in front, one does not abide in it. To show this meaning, it says that "any one" is a synonym. Those who bring out bones, etc., here do not understand the occasion. Like this, because it is the occasion of "if one establishes any kind of only consciousness in front," what is the connection between this time and bones, etc.? Therefore, they approach those. Like this, those appear to be contemplating external objects, which has been said before. To show that other limb that is not that, it says, "That does not abide in only," etc. Like this, if one does not abandon the contemplation of only consciousness, it is the contemplation of only consciousness itself, therefore one does not abide in it. In order to connect the following text, in order to have others ask, it says, "When will the grasping of consciousness be abandoned," etc. If so, knowing also, when the grasping of consciousness has not returned and one does not abide in only consciousness, when will the grasping of consciousness be abandoned? When will the mind abide in the Dharma nature? Thinking that it should be said, therefore, the one who establishes the tenet says, "When will the objects be contemplated by consciousness"
