As it is said, the five aggregates arise within those of the same kind. The term "those" refers to the five aggregates. The term "continuum" refers to the unbroken succession of momentary characteristics from the arising of the five aggregates until death. Destruction refers to the cessation of the momentary continuum of the five aggregates of the same kind, such that the later moment does not follow the earlier moment, and a different moment of a different kind arises, which is called destruction, and is also called impermanence. In reality, when the continuum of aggregates born of the same kind, such as humans, ceases and dies, and one takes other aggregates of a different kind, such as animals, this is called impermanence. Therefore, the cessation of the continuum of five aggregates of a different kind is called impermanence, and the term impermanence is only applied to form, feeling, perception, mental formations, consciousness, and the time arising from the mind. Therefore, as observed by the Hearers, observing a single moment as impermanent is not impermanent; there is no separate entity of impermanence other than the destruction of the continuum of the five aggregates of the same kind. This is what is to be explained. Someone says that external formations such as grass and trees, and internal formations, the five aggregates, both have birth, aging, abiding, and impermanence, and they speak similarly. But they only say that internal formations have birth, aging, abiding, and impermanence. Why is it not said that external formations have birth, aging, abiding, and impermanence? The answer is that the characteristics of formations that the Blessed One spoke of as birth, aging, abiding, and impermanence were spoken in terms of internal formations belonging to the number of sentient beings, and not in terms of external formations such as grass and trees. Therefore, the teacher also said that birth, aging, etc., exist in internal formations, but did not say that they exist in external formations. Someone says that it is the same that both internal and external formations have birth, aging, etc., but the Blessed One only said that internal formations have birth and aging. Why?

In it, birth and aging were not mentioned. It was said: In order to conform to the worldly, just as in this world, the arising and decay of external phenomena such as birth and aging are not mentioned, while for internal phenomena, birth and decay are referred to as birth, aging, abiding, and impermanence. To conform to what is said in the world, the Blessed One also did not say that the birth and aging of external phenomena are arising and decay, but the birth and decay of internal phenomena are said to be birth, abiding, aging, and impermanence. To explain that the nature of the collection of names is the meaning of the name. Asked: What is the collection of names? This is asking what the nature and characteristics of the collection of names are. Among them, names include pot, felt, form, sound, and so on. What is the meaning of the name among them? It is the expression that makes consciousness incline and enter into things, or makes consciousness understand the meaning of things, and expression is the name. Among them, expression is things like mother and pot. Expression refers to the sound called fire and the sound called pot, because by expressing the sound of fire and pot, consciousness can understand and know the meaning of fire and pot, so the sound of fire and pot is called a name. In reality, the letters A and Ka, etc., which cause the meanings of non-existence and pot, etc., to meet, are gathered together, and this is called a name, which is its meaning. The meaning of collection is that the name is also made up of many letters A and Ka, etc., gathered together, so it is called a collection, or it is called a collection because the names themselves, such as Deva-datta, Yajña-datta, form, or sound, are numerous. As an answer to it, the differences in the nature of all dharmas, etc., were mentioned. Among them, felt, pot, form, sound, etc., as well as earth, water, fire, wind, etc., are called collections. The nature of these dharmas is the respective characteristics of these dharmas, for example
