So, what is the state of being distracted? It is another dhyana, or focusing on another vehicle, or the state that causes the mind to be distracted when abiding. Its function is to obstruct the connection with detachment. What is non-knowing? It is the wisdom that corresponds to afflictions. It causes the actions of body, speech, and mind to enter a state of non-knowing. The so-called non-knowing of the actions of body, speech, and mind refers to entering these states without properly distinguishing and discerning in actions such as walking and returning. Its function is to be the basis of downfall. Therefore, due to not knowing what to do and what not to do, faults arise. The near afflictions have been explained. When mentioning "the four also transform into others," what is regret? The so-called "remorse in the heart" is being condemned, which is synonymous with "the thing of having done bad deeds." Linking the bad deeds done to this, remorse in the heart is not. Here, remorse in the heart is called regret, because it is the object of focus. For example, just as the pure mind that focuses on emptiness is called liberation. Or, establishing the cause as the result, that is, the result of regret is remorse in the heart. Both of these are the basis of both, that is, the basis of good and non-good respectively. The regret arising from not doing good deeds is the basis of good. The regret arising from doing non-good deeds is also the basis of good. Similarly, the basis of both non-good is also the opposite. The regret arising from not doing non-good deeds is the basis of non-good. The regret arising from doing good deeds is also the basis of non-good. Its function is to obstruct the abiding of the mind. What is sleep? It is the involuntary gathering of consciousness. Relying on the cause of sleep, the mental dharma belonging to the category of ignorance produces an involuntary mind. Involuntary is the gathering of consciousness, whether it is good, non-good, unspecified, or timely and untimely, it is the gathering of consciousness. Its function is to be the basis of losing affairs. What is investigation? It is the speech of the basis of universal seeking, that is, the difference between mind and wisdom, which is the coarse mind. The so-called universal seeking

is feeling. The expression of mind refers to the consciousness of mind. That is the mind, or relying on wisdom, whatever is a coarse mind, that is, clinging to coarse things like pots, felt, carts, and so on. What is the action? It is the expression of mind that distinguishes awareness, similarly, whatever is a subtle mind. The others are combined with what was said before. The so-called subtle mind refers to clinging to whether things like pots are ripe or not. Both are the basis of touch and non-touch, and have the function of being able to act. Alternatively, the action of virtuous dharmas is the action of abandoning one's own unfavorable aspects, and the action of cutting off between one's own antidotes to all afflictions and near afflictions. Mental factors have been explained. Next, the laws that do not correspond to the mind will be discussed, and it is said: What are the actions that do not correspond to the mind? This is a question. The answer to this is: It is the imputation of the state of the person's form, mind, and mental factors, that is, the imputation of the state of form, the state of mind, and the state of mental factors, but it is not real. If the mind is not explained, then how can the state of mind be falsely established? The answer is: It is said in response to the future, so there is no fault in reason. Which of those forms, minds, and mental factors are inconsistent? Or is it something else, or something unspeakable? It's not like that, so how? Therefore, it is said: Do not falsely establish it as the same or different, just like a fist. For example, a fist is neither different from a finger, nor not different, nor unspeakable. If it is different from the fingers, it will be held separately; if it is not different, it will also be held as outstretched fingers. It should not be regarded as unspeakable, because it can be called a fist. Therefore, it is reasonable not to falsely establish it as the same, different, and unspeakable. What are those? It is attainment and non-perception.
