Abandoning wrong views will for a long time accomplish meaninglessness, unbenefit, and suffering, so abandon wrong views. If it is not said like that, then because abandoning wrong views will accomplish meaning, benefit, and happiness, therefore, monks, abandon wrong views, I say it like that. Monks, do not measure person by person, nor measure person by measure, why is that? Because measuring person by person, and measuring person by measure is harmful. Whether it is me or someone like me, they do not measure person by person or measure person by measure. He thinks like this: Alas, I have done evil deeds with body, speech, and mind in this way. Alas, I have not done merit with body, speech, and mind in this way. Therefore, those who commit evil deeds, the violent, the malicious, those who have not done merit, those who have not done good deeds, those who are cautious because of fear, those who have not protected, whatever the destination they go to, I will go to those destinations. Thinking like this, remorse will arise in the mind. Monks, dying with remorse in the mind is not good, death is not good, and the destination in the next life is also not good. Monks, falling asleep from among the living is not false, not true, not without result, not meaningless, not without benefit. Monks, falling asleep is supreme. Strife, fault-finding, argument, debate, these will bring no benefit to many people, become meaningless, be of no benefit to gods and humans, the discriminations that will become suffering, relying on these will produce attachment, strife, fault-finding, argument, the discriminations of the discriminations that produce debate are not like that. The four dharmas of those who practice asceticism are: even if scolded, do not scold back; even if angered, do not anger back; even if beaten, do not strike back; even if faults are found, do not find faults in others. Here, the noble hearer, regarding his own discipline, these disciplines are without destruction,

Without fault, not foolish, not a mob, having autonomy, not cumbersome, well understood, well composed, praised by the wise, not disparaged by the wise, one should thus correctly remember. Monks, the suffering of a person who sees the truth, obtains the fruit, and possesses realization is like the water in a pond, only that much remains, having been abandoned and completely known. Monks, these three are the inner defilements, the inner competitors, the inner opponents, the inner enemies. Which three? Monks, desire is the inner defilement, the inner competitor, the inner opponent, the inner enemy. Just like desire, hatred and ignorance are also the same. Monks, the eye is the ocean of a person, from which arise the forces born from form. Whoever can endure the forces born from form, that ocean of the eye transcends the brave waves, transcends the lightning, transcends the throne, transcends the rakshasas. Swift of wisdom, quick of wisdom, sharp of wisdom, possessing the wisdom of renunciation, possessing the wisdom of discernment, vast of wisdom, broad of wisdom, deep of wisdom, incomparable of wisdom, possessing jewel-like wisdom. Here, the noble disciple who possesses hearing, I, from among the beings completely entangled by the stain of stinginess, with a mind free from the stain of stinginess, give freely, extending my hand, delighting in giving, giving continuously, giving completely, delighting in sharing giving, abiding in the home, what I have obtained is truly well obtained, one should thus correctly remember the form of the Dharma of giving. In this regard, the good son's moderation in food is like this: Monks, the good son is not for enjoyment, not for fatness, not for beauty, not for adornment, but for the sake of maintaining this very body.

For the sake of nourishment, for the sake of being free from hunger, and for the sake of upholding celibacy, in this way, old feelings should be eliminated, and new feelings should not arise, so that I can live, be strong, be happy, be without fault, and dwell in comfort. Thus, one eats food after examining it separately. For example, when a cartwright applies butter or sesame oil to the axle of a cart, it is not for enjoyment, not for fattening, not for beauty, not for adornment, but only for the purpose of carrying the load. When a man afflicted with wounds applies butter or sesame oil to the wound, it is not for enjoyment, not for fattening, not for beauty, not for adornment, but only for the purpose of healing the wound. Similarly, a noble son, it is not for enjoyment, not for growth, not for beauty, not for adornment, but only for the purpose of maintaining this body, for nourishment, for being free from hunger, and for the sake of upholding celibacy. In this way, old feelings should be eliminated, and new feelings should not arise, so that I can live, be strong, be happy, be without fault, and dwell in comfort. Thus, one eats food after examining it separately. And this is how a noble son is endowed with mindfulness and supreme knowledge: Monks, if a noble son looks to the east, he looks with all his mind. As he looks in this way, covetousness, displeasure, and sinful, unwholesome qualities will not flow into his mind. If he looks to the south, west, and north, he also looks with all his mind. As he looks in this way, it will be the same as before, until they do not flow into his mind. Monks, the feelings of a noble son also arise with knowledge, abide with knowledge, and cease with knowledge, tending towards exhaustion. Perception also arises with knowledge, abides with knowledge, and ceases with knowledge, tending towards exhaustion. Monks, a king
