Of the earth, the first of the minds and mental events, and their subsequent ones, and those attained after transcendence. The so-called first and their subsequent ones refer to the arising of what was previously non-existent, the phenomena arising from the first moment, and the phenomena arising from the second moment and so on, which should also be understood as the meaning of not being mixed with the transcendent phenomena. What benefit is gained by being skilled in combination? For the Mind-Only school, one knows the combination and non-combination of feelings and so on, as well as all defiled and purified dharmas. Knowing these, one can feel the self, can generate recognition, can intend, can remember, can generate all defilements, can purify, know and abandon manifest clinging, and enter into non-self. What is possession? From the perspective of characteristics, it is the same as before. For example, for the increase and decrease of virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral dharmas, it is called attainment, acquisition, and possession. From the perspective of classification, there are also three types: possessing seeds, possessing power, and possessing universal arising. What is possessing seeds? Being born in the desire realm means possessing the seeds of afflictions and near afflictions that are fully corresponding to the desire realm, as well as afflictions and near afflictions that are fully corresponding to the form and formless realms, and the virtues obtained by birth. Being born in the desire realm means possessing the afflictions and near afflictions of the three realms, which should be understood as referring to ordinary beings who have not yet separated from desire. If one has separated from desire, whether born in that realm or a higher realm, all those who have separated from desire in that realm, as well as those who do not possess desire in that realm, and those who also possess desire in that realm, are spoken of in order because of the harm caused by the antidote and because the habitual tendencies have not been completely eradicated. The so-called virtues obtained by birth refer to being in accordance with the place where one is born. Being born in the form realm means possessing meaning and not possessing meaning with the afflictions and near afflictions that are fully corresponding to the desire realm.

It should be done like this. Those who are associated with the afflictions and near afflictions of the form realm, and who are associated with the seeds of the virtues obtained by birth, are therefore associated. Those who are born in the formless realm are associated with the desire realm, and it can also be said that they are associated and not unassociated with the seeds of the afflictions and near afflictions of the form realm. Those who are associated with the afflictions and near afflictions of the formless realm, and the virtues obtained by birth, are associated because they are associated with seeds. Those who have obtained the antidote to the three realms are not associated because they are not associated with the seeds of whatever antidote has arisen, and those whose antidote has not arisen are extremely associated because they are associated with the seeds of that. The so-called attainment of the antidote to the three realms is the attainment of the supramundane path. The so-called arising of any antidote is the great affliction to be abandoned by cultivation, and so on. The so-called non-association with the seeds of that is also association, because the predispositions have been well cut off. What is powerful? Some of the virtuous worldly dharmas arising from application, such as worldly concentration, liberation, samadhi, attainment, and so on, and the unspecified dharmas, are associated because they are associated with power. The so-called virtuous worldly dharmas arising from application, even if there are seeds arising from hearing and so on, if they are not practiced, they cannot be manifested immediately after obtaining the seeds of that birth. Some of the so-called unspecified dharmas are the place of craftsmanship and the mind of transformation, and so on. What is associated with arising? Whether it is good, unwholesome, specified, or unspecified, whatever dharma manifests from the aggregates, realms, and sources, that is associated with arising and is therefore associated. Those who have cut off the root of virtue are associated because they are associated with the seeds of virtuous dharmas, and it should also be known that they are not associated. Furthermore, those who are constantly associated with all afflictions should be regarded as the situation of sentient beings who cannot completely escape from samsara.
