Composed by ordinary people and meticulously refined to completion. Incoherent wording refers to: sometimes being obstructed in the middle by words and courage, as well as interruptions. Arising from speech refers to: arising by means of speech, examining the merits and demerits of speech and not distinguishing them, because it will not become a place of interruption. Arising from action refers to: because of not being biased. In this regard, one should not debate when recognizing that the opponent is not a vessel, the retinue has no merits, and oneself is not intelligent, but should debate when the opponent is a vessel, the retinue possesses merits, and oneself is also intelligent. In this regard, the opponent not being a vessel refers to: not being able to extract from an unwholesome place and place it in a wholesome place. The retinue having no merits refers to: not being a suitable gathering, as well as having obvious attachments and biases, and so on. Oneself not being intelligent refers to: not being proficient from speech to the adornment of speech. Conversely, it should be understood as the retinue becoming a vessel, and so on. The dharmas that cherish speech are: what are indispensable for speakers? For example: being proficient in one's own and others' doctrines, being proficient in one's own and others' doctrines is a dharma that cherishes speech. Therefore, one can speak everywhere. Therefore, one can speak of the basis of all words. Fearlessness refers to being able to make all the retinue speak by means of it. Courage refers to being able to know how to answer in all places by means of it. By means of it, all the retinue can answer. Furthermore, one should know the way of speaking that desires oneself to become excellent, and should not speak disjointedly. As the Blessed One said in the Dharma Collection Sutra: A Bodhisattva who sees the twelve places, diligently striving in the aspect of virtue, making effort the core, completely gathering beings, desiring to quickly realize the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment, should not argue with others. What are the twelve places? It is rare to know all the explanations that possess the supreme meaning of the holy Dharma, and it is rare to speak with the intention of knowing all, Wise people in the assembly, as well as those who possess speculation, are rare, the speech of abandonment.

, and, the fault of completely holding and manifestly clinging to the evil side, and, the fault of speaking evil deception, and, the fault of engaging in speech at an inappropriate time, and, the fault of despising speech, and, the fault of harsh words, and, the fault of mental disturbance, and, after abandoning these six faults, speaking (truthfully) is rare, speaking (truthfully) without contention is rare, protecting the minds of others and speaking (truthfully) is rare, remembering for a long time and then speaking (truthfully) accordingly is rare, speaking (truthfully) without a mind of victory or defeat is rare, speaking (truthfully) without affliction in victory or defeat is rare, if it becomes afflicted, abiding in contact is rare, if not abiding in contact, constantly meditating on virtuous dharmas is rare, if virtuous dharmas are not constantly meditated upon, causing the mind to abide equally when it has not been made to abide equally, and attaining liberation when the mind has been made to abide equally is rare. Striving in the direction of virtue, having said this, and making diligence the essence, this instruction was given in order to show that the mind is pure. The cause of attainment and respect, etc., hearing, etc., is not diligence in the direction of virtue, this is its synonym. Gathering sentient beings is to differentiate them from the Shravakas, etc., taking the accomplishment of benefiting others as a major task, this is its synonym. Thus, after entering into one's own benefit and the benefit of others, quickly manifest complete enlightenment in the unexcelled, perfect, and complete Bodhi, one should know that these words are connected in this way. Even if one can speak without arguing, because the Dharma of the Great Vehicle is profound by nature, if omniscience is rare, what need is there to mention arguing? With whom should one argue and speak? It is not speaking with the intention of understanding all those words, but with the intention of imposing faults. In front of which impartial people should one speak? Those assemblies are also unsuitable, those who are not pure or who have obvious attachments. Almost all that is to be said is possessed of six faults, for example, the speaker sometimes accidentally completely grasps the evil side and manifests attachment, and also intervenes in places where words are reversed and contradictory.
