It is the action of decline occurring. What is forgetfulness? It is associated with afflictions, acting as the basis for the occurrence of mental wandering. What is non-mindfulness? It is wisdom associated with afflictions. Because of this, actions of body, speech, and mind are not done with mindfulness, it is the action of the basis for downfall occurring. Actions of body, speech, and mind not done with mindfulness should be understood as not properly examining walking, returning, and so on. In this way, because of not knowing what should be done and what should not be done, one will fall. What is distraction? It is the part of desire, hatred, and ignorance, mental factors scattering separately. That is also self-nature distraction, external distraction, internal distraction, sign distraction, bad rebirth distraction, and attention distraction. What is self-nature distraction? It is the five aggregates of consciousness. Because they cannot equally abide within their own nature. What is external distraction? It is the mental factor associated with virtue scattering separately towards desirable qualities. Entering into virtue such as listening, it should be understood that from focusing on that, the mind scatters outwards towards the five desirable qualities. What is internal distraction? It is sinking, excitement, and savoring associated with virtue. When entering into samadhi, it is falling away from that, as well as sinking, excitement, and savoring. What is sign distraction? Putting the practice of others in front, and engaging in virtue. In order for others to believe that I possess qualities, its sign is for that reason. When entering into virtue, it should be understood as slightly falling away from there. What is bad rebirth distraction? It is the bad rebirth of the aspects of making "I", making "mine", and thinking "I am", increasing the feelings that arise associated with virtue, or making "mine", or grasping "I am", or mixing, or grasping at signs. Because of the power of bad rebirth such as making "I", making "mine", etc., for the feelings of happiness etc. that arise, thinking "I", "mine", or "I am", therefore it should be understood that the aspect of virtue is completely impure. Grasping then

Initially, it is holding it as such. Mixing means that after that, it becomes mixed with it and the stream of consciousness. Attending means that for that very feeling, one should recognize it as appearing repeatedly. What is the distraction of attending? Other samādhis? Or entering other vehicles? What is the aspect of abiding? It is the function of cutting off between attachment and detachment. When entering other samādhis and abiding in other vehicles, one should recognize that one has arisen from the former. Cutting off between attachment and detachment is being dominated by the nature of the near afflictions. What is sleep? Relying on the cause of sleep, the mental events gathered by the part of ignorance, whether virtuous, non-virtuous, or neutral, whether it is the right time or not, whether it is reasonable or not, it is the function of the basis for the occurrence of losing one's activity. What is the cause of sleep? For example, weakness, fatigue, heaviness of the body, attending to the signs of darkness, abandoning all diligence, and repeatedly habituating at that time, and others making one sleepy by the power of mantras, and likewise, massaging the body and so on. Knowing the part of ignorance is for the sake of distinguishing it from samādhi. Without harming the words of virtuous and other things, it is made as "not the part of ignorance." The right time is midnight. The wrong time is other than that. Reasonable is how it is allowed at the right time, and even if it is not the right time, but one is sick, it is for the sake of being able to do work. Unreasonable is other than that. The function of the basis for the occurrence of losing one's activity should be recognized as the sleep of near afflictions. What is regret? Depending on actions that have been contemplated and not contemplated, and non-actions, the mental events that are scattered by the part of ignorance, whether virtuous, non-virtuous, or neutral, whether it is the right time or not, whether it is reasonable or not, it is the function of cutting off between the abiding of the mind. Actions that have been contemplated refer to making aspirations beforehand, and then acting well and acting badly. Actions that have not been contemplated refer to being forced to do them by others, or by afflictions.
