Remaining kinds such as hunger should be understood as the imbalance of elements. What arises from aggregation is the form of subtle particles. What has manifest intervals is just that. Different from that is what obstructs, separated from tangible touch. Non-revealing form arising from proper acquisition. Conceptual imputation is the form of images. Mastery is whatever form is the object of contemplation for those in liberation. The aggregate of feeling is established through place, essence, aggregate of places, all-afflictive, and completely purified. Among these, the aggregate of places of form establishes the feeling of the body. The aggregate of places of formlessness establishes the feeling of the mind. All-afflictive should be understood as establishing what is mixed with defilements and so forth. Completely purified should be understood as establishing what is without defilements and so forth. Its existence and non-possession refer to being in accordance with what is dissimilar, possessing, and separated. Unskilled in terminology means that because language has not been learned, when recognition arises towards form, thinking 'this is form' is not understanding, therefore it is called signless recognition. Entering into the realm of signlessness, being separated from all signs such as form, and having recognition towards signless nirvana is signless recognition. Entering into the peak of existence, because it is not clear, not making the object a sign, therefore it is signless recognition. Small refers to the desire realm, because it is inferior. Becoming vast refers to the form realm, because it is superior to that. Immeasurable refers to the sky and the sphere of infinite consciousness, because it is infinite. Therefore, recognition focused on these should be understood as recognition of smallness and so forth. Apart from feeling and recognition, all mental factors and non-associated formations are solely the nature of the aggregate of formations. When explaining it, only mentioning thought is because it precedes others. To show the reason, thinking for the sake of whatever virtue, and so on.

These have been mentioned. Among them, virtue refers to faith and other qualities that will be discussed below. All-afflictive emotions refer to afflictions such as desire and near-afflictions. The distinction of states refers to the states of actions motivated by the mind, and actions that are designated as not corresponding to the mind. Mental factors such as mind should be understood by their characteristics and functions. Among them, mind refers to the manifestation of mind, which is called the activity of mind, and this is explaining the characteristic. The function is to make the mind enter into virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral things. For example, how does manifestation work? Because the mind enters into virtuous things and so on. Holding the mind on the object should be understood as repeatedly focusing on that object. Therefore, obtaining attention is called obtaining samadhi. When consciousness arises, the aspect of the change of the senses that corresponds to the arising of feelings such as pleasure is known as contact. The phrase "wanting to make it correspond to this and that" is to summarize all the desires to see and hear, etc. The phrase "holding as it is determined" means that it is so, not otherwise. Saying "not otherwise" is to emphasize this point. Therefore, cherishing it means that others cannot take it away. Familiar objects should be understood as previously experienced. Having the function of not being distracted means that when memory makes the object appear, there is no distraction. The state of one-pointedness of mind is the absence of distraction. Acting as the basis of knowledge means that when the mind is in equanimity, one knows things as they really are. Eliminating doubt means that by discriminating dharmas with wisdom, one can obtain certainty. Faith refers to the aspect of having genuine trust in what exists, the aspect of having faith in those with good qualities, and the aspect of thinking that one can obtain power, or the aspect of wanting to accomplish something. Shame and so on are easy to understand, so they are not explained separately. Born from birth, and from hearing, and from thinking, and from meditation.
