The afflictions of Bodhisattvas, called 'to be abandoned,' are to be abandoned because they are the occasion for entering the antidote ground, and because they are obstacles to omniscience. If the Dharmadhatu is fully attained upon entering the first ground, why is it spoken of again and again? Because after attaining the Dharmadhatu, one abides in a state of purity. How can one know that it is not entering if one clings to the Dharma by merely attaining it? Therefore, it is to correctly show the conduct of abiding. Based on the reason for the use of words, it is said that one has attained the ability to accomplish the benefit of oneself and others. Just as an enlightened Bodhisattva is extremely joyful because he has attained the ability to accomplish the benefit of both, so it is not with the Hearers, etc., because they have only attained the ability to accomplish their own benefit. Therefore, they should not be called extremely joyful. If the first ground is unreasonable, then the higher grounds are also unreasonable, because it precedes them. Stainless means being free from all defilements of immoral discipline, because one is naturally endowed with discipline. Light is the appearance of Dharma, and it is the one who makes it. Dhyana and Samapatti are places of non-regression, Dhyana is contemplation, and Samapatti is formless. Or, Dhyana is the Samapatti of the nature of one-pointedness of mind, and Samapatti is manifestation. Because it does not diminish, it is non-diminishing. The place of great Dharma appearance is that the Bodhisattva on that ground is not separated from Dhyana and Samapatti, and because he is not separated from them, the great

destroy it. Because it is extremely difficult to subdue, it is extremely difficult to subdue. Because on this ground one is skilled in conventional and ultimate truth, therefore the non-conceptual wisdom that understands the truth, as well as worldly writing, arithmetic, crafts, and treatises, are all perfectly accomplished with conceptual wisdom. Because it is difficult to accomplish the two incompatible things of being skilled in conventional and ultimate truth. Manifest realization itself is the manifest realization of abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom. Because it abides in dependent origination, therefore, with the power of knowing "this being, that arises," the non-conceptual wisdom manifests abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom. For all phenomena, it does not distinguish between defilement and purity. Going far means reaching the end of the conduct arising from habituation. Whoever perfects the conduct of habituation on this ground, he should strive diligently and not be shaken by the characteristics of all phenomena. Not being shaken means that all characteristics and all manifestations cannot shake this ground. The seventh ground also holds that because it does not universally practice, it is not shaken by all characteristics, but there is no manifestation, and it is not self-nature. The eighth ground does not require effort, but enters naturally, which is the difference between them. Because his wisdom is virtuous, it is virtuous wisdom, because he has obtained the four analytical knowledges. He is the first and also the wisdom of analytical knowledge, so it is the first wisdom of analytical knowledge. Wisdom is synonymous with the word "intelligence," that is, the analytical knowledge of Dharma, meaning, words, and eloquence. After obtaining these: He knows all the words of the Dharma, is skilled in the nature of all meanings, knows the differences of all languages, and is endowed with eloquence in all directions. This is its meaning. The first means the first, because the knowledge of the nature of analytical knowledge was not obtained before. The cloud of Dharma refers to focusing on impurity, etc., because it focuses on impurity, so it focuses on impurity, that is,

It is also focused on mixing, and it is also knowing all dharmas, so focusing on mixing is knowing all dharmas. Because it is not different from Suchness, it is focused on the collection of all dharmas such as the Sutra Pitaka. Knowing the object of the general characteristics of all dharmas is like a cloud. In its vicinity, just as there is water in the clouds, there are doors of samadhi and dharani like water. Because they are able to generate those. Just as the clouds obscure the sky, similarly, the wisdom that focuses on the collection of all dharmas also eliminates the great obscurations of afflictions and knowledge that are as vast and boundless as the sky. It means to eliminate. Furthermore, just as the clouds fill the sky with water, similarly, wisdom also perfects the Dharmakaya, the abode of the accumulation of qualities. In terms of attainment, it is said to observe in four ways. Gaining faith is to ascertain that this is so, because it is to ascertain the Dharma that is the basis of the ground. Gaining practice is because one has attained the ten practices of the Dharma that are fully in accordance with the ground. The ten practices of the Dharma are: writing, offering, giving, listening, reading, memorizing, explaining, reciting, thinking, and meditating. Gaining realization refers to the first ground, because from correctly realizing the first ground, one can realize everything, because it is of the same kind. As it is said: Just as the first bamboo node breaks, everything is like being cut, so quickly everything will break, so wisdom is one by one. Gaining accomplishment is because one goes to the ultimate end of practice. Ground and ground refers to each ground, which is repetition. Shamatha is samadhi, it is the antidote to distraction. Vipassana is the antidote to perversion, it is wisdom. Practicing the two is striving separately, and in five ways it is to make it habitual. Mixing practice and so on, mixing is collecting, it refers to manifestly collecting everything on one ground and making it habitual.
