and connections, conformity, adaptation, possessing means, signs, harmony, and teach the Dharma with the assembly of limbs of diligent protection. Regarding this, these words show that the answers to the three types of questions possess eight qualities. In terms of meaning and connection, for questions asked out of ignorance, it is shown with meanings that are not inverted and words of connection. In terms of Dharma and sequence, for questions that raise contradictions, it is shown with words that conform to Dharma and express intention. For both questions, it is shown in a way that is suitable for expression and as explained in the Vinaya. In terms of realization, for questions about instructions, it is shown in a way that conforms to the accomplishment of worldly qualities. Diligent protection is the collection of limbs of the noble path. Diligent protection is constant and strict protection, because one must always respectfully guard the mind from defilements. Alternatively, abundance is explained by connection, because there is no connection between what comes before and after. Conformity is explained by adaptation, because there is nothing that does not conform to Dharma. Possessing means is explained by suitability, because it is taught in a way that is suitable for the Vinaya. Harmony is explained by the assembly of diligent protection, because it conforms to pure conduct. For example, when showing the five limbs of speech, the former limb shows the latter: profound is explained by the sound of a dragon, pleasant and delightful is explained by extreme pleasantness, pleasing is explained by making joyful, able to be fully understood is explained by complete clarity, worthy of listening is explained by having no inconsistencies, just like that. These four words, together with the explanation of the latter words, will show that all questions can be answered with answers possessing four qualities: not contradicting what comes before and after, not contradicting Dharma, not contradicting the Vinaya, and being related to the supreme meaning. From the scriptures, it is said that answering with eight qualities is fully shown with eight words. The eight qualities are: arising through connection with meaning, being related to words that are well-known in the world, and not contradicting the opponent.

consistent with, profound words that ascertain meaning and benefit listening, the basis of undistracted words and phrases, thoroughly distinguishing the intention and aspiration of discipline as they are, and not abandoning reception, recitation, retention, thought, and meditation, and showing without attachment to the sound as it is. For all actions, suffering should be expressed as it is. The sutra on the meaning of fears is the teaching of six fears, which, in brief, are the fear of animals living on land, the fear of water, the fear of animals living in water, the fear of humans, the three places experienced by body, speech, and mind, and the two kinds caused by non-humans. Among these, the fear of humans is of four kinds, distinguished by common and uncommon. The common ones are also of two kinds: the king who has power over all actions of punishment and benefit, by whom all sentient beings are commonly feared, and the fear of thieves for all possessions is common. The fear of the cause of harm, the opponents, and others, the powerless, the powerful, and that which arises from uncommon lords, is uncommon. Non-humans are of two kinds: those aroused by mantra, and those not aroused by mantra. The meaning of the summary of sorrow that dispels grief is, in brief, of two kinds: that which arises from the suffering of relatives and friends, and that which arises from the suffering of enjoyment. Among these, the suffering of relatives and friends is of five kinds: that which arises from the decline of relatives and friends, and the parents who are the cause of birth, and those who are taken care of, and the children and wives who are the fruit, and obedient servants and maids, and beneficial and loving relatives, friends, and teachers who show benefit. The sutra on the suffering of enjoyment is that whatever suffering arises from enjoyment, by its distinction, it transforms into the distinction of the suffering of enjoyment. The cause of the suffering of enjoyment is of two kinds: destruct
